can't imagine that chinese learn danish so quick. and pi hongyan wasn not staying so long in dk. there r many players at the IBA who already live there for 4 or 5 years. they can't even speak danish.
i mean i don't even know one chinese player who can speak a fluent english.

how fast you learn a language is different from person to person, you can't just generalize and say chinese can't speak danish.

Yeah, you're right... but I spoke with Yao Jie in Chinese and thought she looks exactly like my ex - Chinese teacher.

Yao Jie does not speak English.. And Pi Hongyan surely does not speak fluent Danish. Yao Jie speaks Dutch though and Pi Hongyan French and English.
The reason I am bumping this thread is actually to ask: when did Pi Hongyan retire?? I must have missed it. After the London olympics?

What is she up to now? Retired already?

Yes, she annouced in 2011 that she wouls retire after the olympic. And 2011 and 12 were very though for her, she had knee problems and could not prepare correctly.
But considering she did not feel good, i think her Olympic were not bad at all.
She is now working for the french federation i think but i am not 100% sure.

She's such an inspirational person. As an athlete, she moved elegant on court, a fighter, beautiful technique and style. Next to that she's a great ambassador for Solibad; friendly, social and oh my her French is exquisite. Very nice to hear she's going to be a mum!
