Why the heck should he retire ? He is only 28....Furthermore, if other players can still play up to mid 30s, why cant he do the same ?
Motivations aside, special programmes can be setup to make sure he stays fit and only select the big tournament to play in.
Expect more titles in his profile page and keep refreshing every month or so

I very much wish you are right, hope to see him playing for another 3 to 5 years even if he's not at his best or winning as many major titles or playing often enough.
To me, Lin Dan is already The Greatest of All Time, nothing more to prove, and he doesn't even need to win the second Olympic gold (good to have, not essential). But how or what's there to keep him going, perhaps you or CBA has a good plan, some secret formula to keep him sufficiently motivated? Monetary rewards may not be enough. How about Li-Ning offering him a joint business venture on condition he continues playing and win the occasional major titles?

sorry, but 2 Olympics Gold and 2 Asian Games'? i know he is targetting on his 2nd OG gold, and i also wish he can make it, but he hasn't get it right now. hehe.
but of course, 2 AG gold, 2 OG gold, 5 Sudirman Cup and 5 WC could be something that motivating.
btw, i missed to watching LD play in his young age, till this afternoon i saw Wang Zhengming played in SOSS SF vs Axelsen. he played aggressively, very offensive with his smashes and quite interesting. is this WZM playing manner can be called closed to how LD play before?

yup, he is a very lucky guy. a well-talented player who born in the right country to get all the better facilities and better supporting teammates too. what's more you can expect? jealosity can't change anything here.

and for me, it's useless how many 'help' he got from his teammates if he himself doesn't that good. his teammates can escort him to the final match, only to see him trashed by another players. but the fact doesn't show it that way i believe. in that final matches, it's LD himself who faced the best players from the other's half, one by one. so, for me, he deserved the titles because the opponent simply not better than him.

Of course he should play on, he has not won the world championship title in his home soil . That is a must to please the chinese fans and big sponsor.
He could try his best to win the next world championship in Copenhagen 2014; he could be the first player to ever win big titles in every powerhouse country he ever competed in.
Try putting Taufik Hidayat, Lee Chong Wei or Peter Gade in any of the powerhouse venue; they cannot replicate Lin Dan's achievement
He has not won a big title yet to be hosted in Denmark.

If you look at it that way, then he have lost points as well by "helping" others. Some fans critizise the guy for not playing serious, not showing up and giving WOs, which looses ranking points for him, and not helping him. Make up your mind :-)
Isn't it even being a bit unfair to LCW to say that LCW is "helping" LD to become no.1 by not playing?Last edited by twobeer; 06-23-2012 at 06:08 AM.

The "help" that he LD rendered to his teammates were actually some sort of payback for all the assistance he received from them after mission accomplished. Those that LD gave away were actually peanuts compared to what he received.
For the second paragraph, it should be: it is unfair to LCW for not being recognized as WR1 by LD's superfans all these while and now they are having a taste of their own medicine aren't they??

Your "search" is sooo real quick. Then soory I can't help you.
Maybe a hint since you asked. For example, back in 2008 during a semi-final clash in a major tourney, LD received an easy match by his compatriot as not to jeopardize his chances in the final match. No?
If the two were to meet again in LOG SF, will you dismiss that LD would not receive the same treatment again? No? Will it be the other way round that CJ will advance in the expense of LD? To me definitely a big no.
So the AE tourney in regard to your question is peanuts. Got it?Last edited by flite; 06-23-2012 at 07:18 AM.

Surely, instead of keeping me guessing, you can just simply state which tourney and how did it come about that "LD received an easy match by his compatriot as not to jeopardize his chances in the final match." Who arranged it that way and who would be his difficult opponent that he had to avoid? And who did Lin Dan beat in that final who would be an easier opponent than the one he avoided meeting? Kindly save me the trouble of searching and trying to guess your "hint".
And about LOG SF, you're purely speculating, it's meaningless to debate on what may or may not happen. Anyway, do you expect CJ to beat LD or LD is not good enough to beat CJ - to prove that LD needs "help"?
So the only justifiable and acceptable result is for CJ,"the superior player", to defeat LD,"the weaker player"?
If your argument above doesn't hold then "So the AE tourney in regard to your question is peanuts." is irrelevant and makes no sense. Whatever it is, I simply cannot get it why and in what way a stronger player needs the help of the weaker one(s).
