He's not training with the national squad, but during his rest period, he does have a personal trainer for a minimum 2 hours workout, and he still work on his skills

Lin dance still a force if he want to, hopefully he don't lose interest like taufik did.

Any how, I see Lin dance losing 2 straight matches are quite a big deal. Opponents might not fear him that much anymore.

Opponents, will have the believe to beat him. It will

He is younger than LCW. If LCW can last, he should be able to. It is at his own mercy.

All he need is to brush up on his skills and fitness again. Second to none in terms of skills.

    The mental capacity is awesome.

So, it looks like the only way to beat LD is to play him in 11 point games...

A couple losses at the end of 2013 shouldn't worry LD's fans about his chances in 2016.
It would be more detrimental to his chances if he was to use up all his energy and mental well -being trying to remain unbeatable for the next 2 years. The man deserves this current, more normal life --for a little while at least. Otherwise even his incredible motivation might take a Taufikesque nosedive.

Lin Dan was selected as The Best Male Athlete in the 2013 CCTV Sports Personality of The Year Award. But he was unable to make it to the presentation ceremony with Xie Xingfang as originally planned as he was busy filming a micro-TV advertising program of sorts.

He also confirmed that he will be returning to the national team in February on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year (2nd Feb'14) to resume training in preparation for his comeback. Meantime, he has to finish as much of his commercial activities and obligations as possible before returning to active competition.

this is a puzzling news. Park JB says he is vehemently opposed to BWF granting another wild card to Lin Dan in 2014 WC, which will not be held in China.

Because wild card is usually reserved for a player from the host country.

If LD comes back this year, say March 14, is there enough tournaments to qualify for WC? Perhaps Limsy or AlanY can advise.
I feel that if there is a will, there is a way, if LYB wants to see LD play WC14 and to get LD back into the circuit the target ahead being OLY16. Personally, I want to see LD in WC14, this is same feeling I had when XXZ was not in WC05 as the defending WC in WC2003.

More importantly, I believe only 2 players from the same country can qualify for the Asian Games.

Will Lin Dan be able to take part in the Asian Games?

If LD can qualify for WC14, then AG should be no problem, right? It comes down to how many tournaments LD has to win from March onwards.

This can't be when I'm always hearing Gillian Clark say that Wang Yihan was not one of the four players sent to the Asian Games in 2010 when she was world number one.

Unless the rules have changed since then, or there's a different quota for men?

ETA: I just found out that the 2010 Games was held in China. I suppose the Chinese team may have been able to send four players because China was the host country?

I believe China can send 4 singles players for the team event. But can only send 2 singles players for the singles individual event.

So their team event may be Lin Dan, Chen Long, Du Pengyu, Wangzhengming.

Their singles event will likely be Chen Long plus 1 of the above players.

But i'm not sure if the player has to qualify with ranking points or if CBA can just pick who they want.
