I miss the former LD, his current self is imo quite boring to watch(of course others will have different opinions). I would certainly watch more of his former matches if they were uploaded into YouTube.

I agree that his current style is more boring. I like his former style instead.

IMO, Lin "God" Dan's style lately is like he's Son Goku, fusion with Vegeta (Lee Hyun Il - The Grace). Resulting perfection of technique, ultra effortless, gliding tirelessly, but still ready to bombard heavily if he feels it was neccessary. No weakness, but having all the answer towards all his opponent's effort be it long tiring rally, deception battle, or power bomber style. Truly god of badminton

No wonder he and Xie Xingfang could jointly donate 2.2 million RMB to the Ya'an earthquake victims in south-west China's Sichuan province. http://sports.qq.com/a/20130422/000211.htm A charitable act, no less, and the celebrated couple even visited the site the other day to ensure the necessities and money reach those in need.

I know this is off topic but their are 2 athletes ahead of LD - Li Na i understand, easy for her to make far more money. But can anyone tell me how Sun Yang has managed to make so much money relatively?

    Lin Dan on wildlife conservation:

is this a sign that he is transitioning into another phase of his life? caring more about things beyond badminton, using his fortune and fame. (think Bill Gates but of course without the same deep pocket)..

Excellent reading. Sun Yang only gets one third of the endorsement money.

Now we know why LYD allows Lin Dan to be away for so long!!!! And possibly why so many Olympics gold medalists have declined in World Ranking!!!

He is at 41 on this weeks ranking list. It will be a long and winding road for Lin Dan to get back up the ranking table.

By not playing at the SC next month he will immediately drop over 30 places to 75. If he plays in the Thailand GP like he did last year and win it, which will only move him up to 60 at most. Then comes the INA SSP and Japan SS, none of them is his favorite hunting ground. Let say if he gets a SF and a runners up that will move him up to around 30.

But, here comes the killer blow as he will drop the 12000 points from London after that, Im afraid back to 45. May be he can pick up a title at the China Master at home and up to 32. A reasonable result in Japan and may be pick up the first London GP title in October will get him close to the top 10.

So, there may still be a chance for him to qualify for the end of year SSF!

I think the main thing for LD this year is to recover back to his outstanding form. By not able to play SC and WC this year, his goal for big titles will be next year ie Thomas cup, WC and Asian games. When he start winning, the ranking point will come automatically. As for concern of meeting top seeds in the early rounds, I can't see this is a problem as LD can beat anybody apart from LYB.

Whilst Lin Dan is out of the Sudirman Cup, CBA has decided to register him to play in the INA PSS and Singapore SS next month, and the US Open GPG in July. For the US Open, I wonder if it'll be his first time there; I won't be surprised he's going there with his family for a holiday as well. No mention of June's Thai Open GPG though. http://sports.qq.com/a/20130502/000654.htm
