the whole team were climbing a mountain called Mount Lao, or Laoshan (崂山) near the training base.
apparently, they doing that all the time.

The beer of the Tsingtao Brewery is said to have been brewed originally with Laoshan spring water.

LD is a complete stick on for WC. cant understand all you guys who think he shudnt be there didnt BAM use same thing when WC was in Kuala Lumpur mmmmmmmmm double standards i think. LD is best ever & I firmly believe LCW is 2nd best ever. Had LCW been born at any other time he wud have been best in his generation. This has happened in ever other major sport. Just tough luck on LCW the best player ever LD is in his generation....Major trophy count proves this. Case closed LD #1, LCW#2.....cant change & wont change....You can Boleh all you want but im sorry LD is better.....oh so is CL now..

When LCW gets beat in this years WC i think LD will lie down & pass baton over to CL as Chinese & world #1. LCW can look back on a great career & think that China beat him....even Chinese juniors are now beating him....Gents dubbz is far more interesting now....China will win Gents singles, Ladies singles, Ladies dubbs & mixed dubbz.....but Gents mmm thats a close call....will Liu & Qiu do it...i wonder

I think the chance of LD meeting LCW in WC2013 is not that huge.

CMIIW, but I think the chance of LD meeting LCW in early rounds is one in 32.

There is a chance of LD meeting CL or DuPY before meeting LCW later.

It's nice to see that LD prepared seriously for the WC. Only time would tell how far he could go, 1st round loser or 1st podium. Just can not wait for the show. 1 months to go, yay!

any 2 players in the draw will meet eventually if they keep on winning until they meet, therefore the chance of LD to meet LCW is the same chance as one or both got knocked out before that.

considering those 2 are probably the best of the best for the last 4-6 years at the very least therefore I would say the chance for them to meet in the WC is pretty high, 50/50 or there about.

It depends on how committed and motivated Lin Dan really is, the physical training and honing his skills aren't the problem in my humble opinion. Don't mean to sound like a wet blanket, I've my doubts that he can regain his former prowess in just three intensive months of preparation. I'll be most delighted if he can prove me wrong.

For someone who has practically not known any kind of life outside badminton since the age of 12 during which he becomes the most-decorated star winning all the most-coveted titles some more than twice over and be the first and only shuttler to complete the super grand slam, and then to take a six-month break where he thoroughly enjoyed a very happy, fulfilling life without badminton doing the things he had yearned for but never got the chance to do - is to say the least a life-changing experience.

No doubt, his passion for the sport will never desert him and be with him a lifetime but to recover the 'feel', the 'fire', the utmost desire to step onto the winner's podium again, nay, just the competitive spirit alone, takes not only time and effort. I humbly submit that it could be much easier for someone who has never won anything big but driven by passion for the sport to make a successful comeback than for Lin Dan's case to get back into his all-conquering,winning ways which require lots of drive and motivation to do more of the same as before, the more so when he has no more peaks to surmount.

In a sense,I daresay that the 6-8 months' break by Lin Dan may have actually done him more harm than good badminton-wise although it has enriched the quality of his life otherwise. Perhaps a longer, say two-year, layoff may be less counter-productive in reviving his hunger for continuing success in badminton glory but then, on the other hand, age isn't on his side, what with other more lucrative, commercial offers awaiting him for which he would be compelled to weigh the opportunity costs in his career decision-making.

On another note, even our supremo Li Yongbo is not sure whether Lin Dan will persevere until Rio Olympics or retire anytime soon when asked by reporters about some rumours speculating on Lin Dan retiring after the National Games of the PRC in September. He added the final decision is Lin Dan's to make, it's still an open question for the time being. http://sports.qq.com/a/20130708/004300.htm

I guess this coming WC marks another turning point in Lin Dan's career, hopefully by then a clearer picture should emerge of his next course of action to take. Needless to say, the key to the answer on his future career path lies solely in Lin Dan's hand, not CBA's or LYB's, a luxury he's entitled to.

Xie Xingfang completed post-graduate master's degree

If I may update this piece of news here, it is reported that Mrs Lin, i.e. Xie Xingfang, who after her retirement started to pursue a postgraduate course majoring in sociology from September 2011, will very soon earn her master's degree from Beijing University (Beida), the graduation ceremony being just days away. Upon graduation, she intends to return to her hometown in Guangdong province to offer her services, presumably not related to badminton though she would continue to pay attention to it. Presently she has no plans to study for a doctorate.

Well said. And may i add that it's always best to retire and leave the sport at the peak of one's career, instead of dragging it out.

All the WC wild card talk that LD doesn't deserve it will fire him up to prove his detractors wrong.

As proven in the past, LD likes challenges which provide great motivation and purpose for him to train very hard to reach his peak condition in barely three months or so. And all his efforts will culminate this August at the WC for all his eager fans to feast.

In the most dramatic fashion signaling his victory, he may well tear off his shirt, show off his well-defined body and give us his famous Red Army salute in defiance of all who oppose him but also as a sign of adoration for his ardent fans and admirers.

After all he has to at least equal his wife's feat of securing a Masters in Sociology from Beida.

Well done Lin Dan! You did it again!

    So true...

In fact, I don't think what he said is a kind of "opinion" or "comment" but brutal blind attack, yet I don't think the mod will do anything...

So just simply ignore this guy who looked like not using his mind, or may be no such mind thing...
