The magnificent pair who once ruled world's men's doubles are joining up again. They will start their debut in China Open this year. Can they be the king again?

Chandra Wijaya and Sigit Budiarto are the pair that have won so many titles. Their charm is not only in their games, but also the way the pair express themselves in the court. Sigit is agressive and bursting with explosive gestures and temper. Chandra is a calm playmaker that cleverly set up the pace of the game.

Sigit was suspended for a year after nandrolone had been found in his urine sample, a result of careless medication. Chandra then was paired with Tony Gunawan and made excellent results in the world arena. Tony was taken off from Halim at that time and he had no official partner.

At the peak of his career with Chandra, Tony decided to move to the states with his wife--doubles player Etty Tantry--to study. He was also offered to play, coach and manage US badminton squad.

Sigit and Chandra were together again for a while until the last world championsip where Sigit found out --just before the final game--that they will be separated again after that event. Upset with the news that was kept from him and only knowing from the press, he could not perform well and lost to Jonas Rasmussen/Lars Paske.

Trikus Haryanto then left the mixed doubles arena to pair with Sigit after her Olympics partner Minarti Timur resigned. Chandra was paired with Halim. Both had to struggle from zero within a short period to qualify for the Olympics, but in the end Sigit/Trikus went to the prestigious event, losing in early rounds.

The reunion is definitely a good news for fans and badminton community in Indonesia who have longed to see the actions again. It certainly is not a really good news for Sigit's partner, Trikus, and younger players who have to "share" tournaments due to money issue.

It's Trikus now with undecided future. Halim who's supposedly paired with him is nowhere to be found. Younger generations like Luluk/Alven and Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan have crawled and even succeed in getting higher ranks than their seniors. Trikus may be left out, or return to the mixed doubles.

With the budget issues PBSI is sufferring at the moment, only two pairs will be sent to China in the men's doubles. Chandra/Sigit will start their reconciliation and Markis/Hendra will get more flying time in the senior arena.

Luluk/Alven are disappointed with the decision but they chose to just go with the instructions as they do not know what else to do. Currently holding the highest rank among Indonesian pairs (ranked 2 in the world) Luluk/Alven will instead go to Singapore Open and Indonesia Open.
