http://badminton-indonesia.com/phpnuke/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=150&mode=&order=0&thold=0 Badminton equipment manufacturer Yonex renew its sponsorship contract with All-Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI) for year 2004-08. It is the biggest sponsorship the company has ever done. PBSI is pleased with the contract not only because of the amount, but also because of the more flexible terms that Yonex has agreed on. PBSI is still allowed to look for a co-sponsor with no limit on the amount. Previously, Yonex put a ceiling of US$300,000 for any other co-sponsors willing to support the Association. The contract is effective from 1 November 2004 to 31 October 2008. According to DK Seth, managing director of Sunrise International--Yonex distributor in South-East Asia--the contract is the biggest the company has ever signed. Yonex will deliver US$1m yearly on the first two years followed by US$1.2m for each year after. In addition to that, annual coach allowance of US$75,000, equipments, and bonus for players winning international tournaments make up the total amount. The company also sets some restrictions on the contract. A penalty of 20% of contract value will be levied if by the third year PBSI only managed to collect less than five grand prix titles. If they manage to collect only five to 14 titles, then 10% penalty will be imposed. Despite its strict regulations, the contract seems to have loosen up a bit. The contract only binds the players in the national training camp. It means other Indonesian players are allowed to find their own sponsors and wear their equipments.
Let me guess... after all the money has filtered down through the 'system', the players will probably get US$0.7m.
A ha........ you know the 'system' in Indonesia, Cappy. Not only US$ 0.7 m, but maybe smaller than that.
Spread that over the 5 years and divided among the coaches, players etc etc and you see how much each will get.
