of course she's (i think) number 9 in the world, an ex chinese player but now she's playing for germany, she made a great season during 2004 she won the bitburger open in 2003, semi finalist at the korea open 2004 ( she beat zhou mi in 1/16 round), she lost in the first round at the OG in three games against zhou mi
I think she'll be playing here at the Aviva Open Singapore 2004 and is touted to be one who can give the China players a run for their money! Pity so little is heard or known of her until now.
Sure, I saw her playing twice this year in the German "Bundeliga". Her club Bischmisheim is currently the leading team in the German first Badminton league. Her German is quite well now. Two weeks ago she was in my city Bonn in order to play. For her club Nikhil Kanetkar (India) and Pang Eric (Netherlands) also play. There was a negotiation between Berlin and Xia Xuanze shortly after the announcement Xia should stay home instead of taking part in Olympic Games. But Xia changed his mind and keeps playing for the Chinese national squad. Nevertheless Xia answered during an interview at the German Open that he will positively think about a career in Europe, especially in Germany, if he quits playing for the national squad. What a pity that Kennth Jonassen doesn't play in Germany any more. It could have happened that I could see twice a season the match between Xia and Jonassen. What a marvellous dream! But it remains a dream.
