What cheap(<or around $100) alternative do we have from yonex (or not yonex) for a long time iso 900 user? Or if cannot find, then which one can one adapt the easiest?

ISO 900 is long time discontinued.
I know there is ti Swing power but it is expensive > $150 and it does not really feel exactly same as iso900.

ISO 900(SR) have a quite unique balance, flex, frame shape, not too light and not too flexy)

Can any Carbonex racket fit the bill?

Not really, Carbonex is totally different from the ISO900 series. Hm....let me think about this one.... :)

Cab series are oval head, and ISO 900 is iso. Therefore, u see there's significant difference right from teh name already.

But I thought Ti-7L is a head-light racket, where SR is balanced (towards head heavy side)

Perhaps the different structure of the racket caused the feels to be the same? :) (often happens)

I think the ti-7 fits well. its slightly heavier overall, but its balance is head light. while the SR is somewhat head heavy, but is super light... I had one before, at first it felt sluggish but after a few games it felt too light...

Ti-7 is a light racket, but the balance is not even and instead slightly towards the head. similarly, the SR is also light and balanced towards the head.

personally though, i think they are both too light, not very stable, and way too soft.

how about the MP88? i have never used it but it is also a light, head heavy and flexy racket. and most importantly, they are still widely available.

Yeah, I had both MP88 and 900SR before, I think they are close enough (compares to others) to make them interchangeable.

Note: I am talking about the 4U version :), which is the similar weight to SR.

    Thanks for replies

MP88 in term of balance and iso head is similar,
but MP rackets has a bouncy touch due to the ultimum Ti i think compared to iso900 (which feels solid and stable).

The armortec feel also is also a bit bouncy due to the shaft i think.

Anyway both mp88 and armortec are more expensive than iso900 or tisp anyway.

hmm, never tried ti7, only tried ti8 :) ti8 a bit on the stiffer side.

Any carbonex similar in term of weight and balance(towards head)
not taking in consideration the oval head and different feel of carbonexes.
i guess most md range -> high range cabs are normally heavier and stiffer.

    Thanks

Hi crazy_smasher. I have both the ISO900 and TiSP SA. IMHO both rackets feel the same to me. Would you consider clones like the Winex ISO900? :)

    Hi CrazySmasher,

I have the exact problem as you before. The following are the rackets that I have tried:
    1. YY MP99 (3u)
    2. YY MP88 (4u)
    3. YY Iso500 Swing Power (SR, SA)
    4. YY Iso Slim 10
    5. Winex SquareDynamic Swing Power 900 SS

Of these, I found only the item 5 got the similar feeling and the price is only half of an YY Iso900. I guess one of the reasons that Iso900 is unique is that it have the "larger" square head than other Iso or MP rackets (smaller square head).

Currently, I played with 1 YY900SS, 1 YYTiSS and 1 Winex900SS for several years and they are still intact. The reason may be I never strung them over 22lbs. Moreover, when I play double with unfamiliar partners (they are usually very aggressive), I will let them play the majority part of the game.

    Good Luck. ;)

    winex iso900

Actually, the alternative i am looking for is for my friend who is a long time user.

Winex ISO900 looks very close to the yonex one :)
    How much approximately is it?

Saw the Winex at Toa Payoh Safra and Artic Sports Sembawang Shopping Centre. The stocks just arrived, am not sure of the pricing. I think it should cost <$120. I compared the Winex racket face with my Yonex ISO900 and TiSP and believe they are produced from the same mould. You may also wish to try out the Winex TiSP and Mia Audina series.

If your friend is still keen on the Yonex ISO900 or TiSP, its still available at Weston Corp Peninsula Shopping Centre and Ranking Bras Basah. Cost is S$160 w/o string but didnt check if the SR version is available.

The Yonex ISO 900 may have been discontinued in Singapore but you can easily get it from Inskysport in Hong Kong for HK$850-$870 with strings. With shipping, it will still be less than HK$1,000. So, no excuse. ;)
