Is the original grip on a new racquet wrapped in the way (edge of grip pointing downward from left to right) for right-handed user? If the answer is positive, since I'm left-handed, should I re-wrap the grip in the other direction?

It doesn't matter which direction you wrap the grip. The result should be a flat surface in either case.

I agree with Gollum, that the surface should be flat for grips that have no ridges (ie towel ones).

    With ridges (Right Handed):
Hold racquet with left hand with head pointint left.
Wrap the grip starting on the bottom of the handel going downwards.

So you are right that for lefthanded players, you should wrap it upwards (downwards with head pointing to the right). So that the fingers naturally run down along the ridges.

hmm.....does it affect performance if a right-handed use a racket with grip as in the pic (so that his fingers not naturally run down along the ridges, but likely cross the ridges)???

It does for me. Considering that my hands sweat, I feel that I can grip (along) the ridges tighter . There is less likelihood of the racquet flying across the court and taking out some innocent bystander. I am more confident to smash/hit harder. Also my thumb sits better if I wrap it this way.

Jimmy, I'm a bit confused.
So you are a RIGHT-HANDED person and wraps your grip in the way as ahown in the pic?

Ah, that's an interesting point! I'd forgotten about ridged grips. I suppose if you use a ridged grip, you will want the ridges to be in line with the fingers.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear, I am right handed and I do NOT wrap it the way shown. I was (trying) to say that it DOES matter for me how I wrap it. The way shown there is for lefthanded player and it would affect my performance negatively.
