Strung by me 1 week before the break, 22x24, BG68-Ti.
They broke doing clears in a warm up (with feather shuttles).
    It didn't feel like a mis-hit.
    The grommets are OK.

BG68Ti is brittle and does not take kindly to mishandling. Could be due to kinks in the string when racquet was strung.

well, I take care to avoid kinks. But I wouldn't rule out damaging the string with a clamp.

It was more the main and cross breaking at the same time I was curious about. never seen it happen before.

    Neil,

I can only suggest it was your extrme smashing power which broke the strings in both directions!!

slicing the bird hurts the crosses and hitting it flat hurts the mains...

maybe you did one of those cool offensive backhand slicing clears baseline to baseline. :p

Both main and cross are broken.......are you trying to kill someone with your super smash ? (especially it's a Ti-10) Gotta try less power next time!! :)

If you could, just restring it with the same settings, and see if it happens again.
I am thinking it's just bad luck or something like that  main and cross broken at the same time isn't too common to see :)

Coincidentally (maybe) I broke a string the week before this, at the same venue.
I had got there a bit early, and nobody was around, so I ran around the courts a bit to warm up.
Then I decided to practice my high serve.
About 40 or 50 serves later, ping, string broke.
Normal break though, cross in the centre.
And it was BG66, so it could have gone at anytime.
