I have lived in the Atlanta area for 2 years now and have not found anywhere to play. There are a few clubs associated with universities and one or two private clubs, but nothing for the "public". I'm thinking if I ever want to play again, I may have to get somthing started myself. Has anyone out there taken it upon him/herself to start a club? How woulld I go about finding other players, finding a place etc. Any advice would be great! MC
I did meet someone from Atlanta recently who loves to play badminton like you. He actually moved the entire family to Southern California for one reason, to play badminton at full time clubs around here and he is playing 7 days a week since then. I have lots of respect for his passion and determination.
MChristine, I'm going to contact my friend and will get back to you as soon as I get some information. There are quite a number of players there...and few places to play. They will be very happy to have new member joining them.
I know that family and he moved his family to Southern California so he can play more badminton, not because he couldn't find any places to play in Atlanta (please don't discourage MChristine).
I think this thread should be in "places to play", but anyway, these are the public places you can play: 1) Georgia State University (Tuesday & Friday night), someone need to sign you in which is not a problem. 2) There's a church in Duluth, I played there before, they have 4 beautiful courts with hard wood floor (Wed night & Sat afternoon) 3) Another club in downtown near Decatur Unfortunately, my friend is travelling so she can't give me the address nor phone number of those places, but if you pm me and give me your email address, I'll get you the information you need.
