Is stretching required at the beginning of the day/evening, or before every match? Before an evening of practice or play, I stretch (after warming up). After sitting out for a while, I usually just take a few hits, some light movement on court, and that satisfies my warmup (NO STRETCHING) At competition, I warm up and stretch like crazy before every match. I am beginning to think that in a long evening, an extensive warmup and yoga before every match might be a bit too much. (I made a short search of archives, didnt find a similar topic...if I've missed it, please post the link).
