Shaft or frame? It is really hard to actually hit the shaft of the racket, since it is thin and unless u intentionally hit it, you never really do get to hit it. Also, even if you hit the shaft, it wouldn't be a hard hit since the distance the shaft is swung at is very little compared to the racket face.

Unless you launch your racket from a cannon or something right against a birdie shooter, I really dont think you can swing as hard to kill your shaft

Does string tension affect shaft?
Well even if u miss hit,i dun think u will miss so much and end up hitting the shaft...

if the string tension is very high, the string bed of cos will be very hard.
When string bed is hard, then the shaft will bend more when u execute a smash or any high power shot. fatigue will set in and the shaft may break.
at least thats wat i think

I have broken a RSL aerometric slim 10 ( yonex slim 10 clone $50 US bought
for) on the shaft but not by hitting the shuttle on the shaft . It was due to the shuttle hitting the top of the frame. The racket had collided with another racket and had put stress on the top of the shaft (a crack). The racket was strung at 25 lbs with my favourite (bg 66). I doubt it if any one has broken a racket solely by the birdy hitting the shaft.

There's a Hong Kong Junior National Juniors team player in our school who smashed so hard today that he broke his racket!
(Strings snapped, and took the frame with it)
