Hi, I am fairly new to this forum and a beginner in badminton. I have not had the opportunity to use the following rackets but observed that "doubles" rackets like MP99 and AT800 have shorter shafts and longer handles as compared to "singles" rackets like AT700. Does the shorter shafts help in swing speeds and thus more relevant for doubles play? How does a longer handle help? I have done a search but could not get any specific answers.
A longer racquet has a heavier swingweight, hence more power. To keep a racquet to its standard size, you will find two identical length racquets, one with a longer shaft but shorter handle and the other with a shaorter shaft and longer handle, being produced. The one with the longer shaft, all other things being equal, will have a heavier swingweight than the one with the shorter shaft. The AT700 relies on its head-heaviness and longer shaft to generate considearable power despite its lightweight.
