    Hi,
    I have the Yonex AT800OF SP 4UG4
    using BG-80 @ 23lb
after a month appox. 40hrs of badminton playing.

it seems the string is loosing its tension
and i am about to replace it whenever i have time.
Some friends told me that i can make a great "bang" sound when i smash, however the birdie doesn't travel as fast as the bang sound..(means slow) so they suggested me to make a higher tension when i string my racket again.

So i assume a higher tension can gimme a better smash(i know a good smash relates to many many other factor, but for now just base on the tension first).
if i am correct, what is the maximum tension that i can put on my AT800OF. NOTE it is a 4U, not 3U. so tensino it suggests is 18lb to 24lb. however, i want to make it beyond that.. my friend has it even at 28lb..(i don't know if the "stringer" really did give him a 28lb tension)..
i don't know if the racket will be collapse one day if i clash with my partner.

and last but not least, what string too.. I kinda tend to Yonex string, cuz the racket itself is yonex, grip is yonex, why not use yonex string...
Can i have a string that has great smash, control also net play.!?

    thanks

hey, first of all i suggest that you ignore the recomendation by yonex coz i find it a nonsense. i string my mp 100 @ 28 lbs, and you know that the recomended is 22 lbs max. so at800 which is recomended @ 24lbs max surely can take more than 28 lbs. and bg 80 is a good string especially if u string it at a high tension.

How did it break? Could you post a picture for us? My AT-700 CD was strung to 28 X 30 lbs constant tension. No problem so far.

    I have a AT 800OF U4, G5 with bg80 @ 36lbs... no problems so far!

BUT I've tried 2 times that the 'upper'-knot (the knot on top of the racket-head) goes throug the racket..hmm dont know how to say it hihi, the knot didn't hold!

never saw this problem with my old rackets...also at 36lbs

hope you guys (and ladies) understood på 'knot-problem' hihi...I'm not that good at english, so it's a bit difficult to explain  ??

    cheers
    /Malik

    36lb?!?!
Are you serious? i mean are you sure it is 36lb, it is quite tight though... i've just asked a stringer today and he suggested me to string it around 26lb. as it is a 4U(too light to string at higher tension).. so i don't know... i want to put it at 28x30lb at first, but now i need to decide again.

33lb! still at very high tension..
i am about to try BG-88ti, however the string is extremely expensive if i get it in 1 pack(for 1 time) i am still deciding how many lb. to go actually..

Yeah, I like it high.. doesn't know the bg-88ti string.
What does it cost for 1pack..? and what does a bg-85pack cost?

In Denmark a bg-85 pack cost about 10$ I'll say it's alot of money.. but it's also a nice string :)

    BG88ti is very expensive.

Please try BG65 with the tension recommended by Peter. That should be very close in performance. Peter is a very experienced wise guy. Trust him.

Our AT800OFcp with 27LB is very very good with BG65 at high tension. I believe it will improve with the tension that's recommended by Peter.

    Happy trying:D

because it isn't in a large pack(i can't find a store that carries the large pack)..so the small pack is ~$20USD

BG88ti is thin, and rough... i believe it is the roughest in Yonex string. Even the stringer said it is very rough.

rought is good for net play.

may be the string is made in Japan and import from Japan, so it is qutie expensive.

BG65 is kinda thick as i remember... i am using bg68ti, however it loose its tension quite fast, after 2 games or 3, the tension will drop drastically.

my BG80 is still good in 23lb, hasn't loose a pound yet(40 hours playing in a month)

1 We have tried both BG88Ti. Very very expensive and very very good control and power.

2 BG65 is very thick indeed. If we come to basic Physics, when we put a high tension (ie 26lbx28, or 28x30lb)on the thick strings, it will not be as thick.

3 String is a recurrent expense and no one likes to put a lot of money on it(BG88ti) and see it breaks one or two months later.

4 BG65 is cheap and best buy at high tension; plus my son is using it now and very very happy. Your investment is low if you don't like.

5 Trust Peter, the wise guy, use his recommended tension.

6 Finally, my son's coach is HKteam senior division; he plays Badminton intensively. He also uses BG65 at high tension, 27lb.

7 Tension is personal. But BG65 must be at high tension to be good:D .

Forget to say: next time we will only string all our rackets with BG65 with high tension, say over 27lb that Peter has recommended. Too good and too best value. Must try.

I think another problem is that not many racket shops are willing to string over even 25lbs.

At least Rose and Wan Kee will discourage you to string over 24lbs. Some shops will steal lbs when stringing, such as EXXX. (better to not mention full name) I have a friend strung 24lb in this shop, but the result is poorer than 22lb at my small machine in home.

Try to contact Taneepak and see Inskysports will string over 27 or not. I think other HK guys can also recommend their favourite stores for stringing. I string all rackets by myself at 25 x 27lbs.
