For new players. The best way to learn is to play with experience players. What do you think? Is competition important as well?

    Learn

They must also train their physical and basic stroke.
After building up their fundemental, playing with different type of players. Learn some tips and ask advice from them. Set target.

For advance player, they should build up their mental strength and strategy.
In addition, personal learning capability varies.

I remember a few years ago, I can never beat one friend of mine. I expanded my group of badminton friends, playing with people who are much better than me. Building up my fundemental.

Now, he can never beat me even though I play with only 70%.

My next target is to beat ex-national players. And to get 3-5 points from
    national player.

It also make my blood boil when playing with solid players.

One more way to train single if you do not have good single sparring partner.
    I play single against double.

I am involved in some game and training at this moment, will drop by chong Pang when free. Your actual group should be good.

If you are a new player the best way to learn is to get coaching so you know how to hit the shuttle properly rather than just join in and play and learn bad habits that will catch up with you later on, you will find it hard to change becasue its all you know.

    Hi,

i think that competition for new players will not make out much.
As the above experts have mentioned, basic is the most important.
u must learn basic skill before sparring with other gd or higher level players.
Meaning that yr confident level and morale will decrease when u being mock or laugh at. That will be difficult to learn further later on.
Coaching at early stage will be a better choice if u want the correct stroke.
It does not mean that learning on yr own will wrong, learn wrong stroke.
Coaching wll clear yr mistakes, the way the handling, stroke and strength.
Then when u master the basic, then u are ready to take on challenage to learn further.
This time, u r not afraid of losing, mock or laughed at. In this will increase yr power to improve further.
Hope u understand the above. This is what i feel.

This is the best recommendation. But I actually want to add:

Get a coach. Learn and practice all the correct forms AND DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT PLAYING WITH ANYBODY ELSE UNLESS YOUR COACH TOLD YOU THAT YOU CAN REMEMBER HOW TO PERFORM ALL THE CORRECT FORMS UNDER ALL SITUATIONS.

My son's coach told me that many new learners after learning the new forms plays with experienced players and learn bad habit.

I still remember it took my son one hour learning one single bad form from a guy BUT it took 3 months(almost 1 hour per day) to correct. Even so, can't completely correct the shot .

    improving game.

Looks like you are a real serious player looking for a good hit. Do join us. I'm sure you'll find it satisfying. Close to orgasm when playing with tough cookies like us. To bit the nationals, you need the stamina to sustain the rallies. In training, you need to be able to last 1 minute of rallies consistently. See you in chong pang cc.

    I second that !!!
For people like me, its more important to enjoy the process of playing the game....competition is secondary....I enjoy the company and sometimes the laughs...

The sweet smell of "victory" has somewhat paled over the years...
