Does anyone know when the next Canadian Open will be held? I went to the last one that was held at the CBC center in Toronto.

i don't know either, the organizer usually scraping for places to host the annual cdn open.

On another note, i heard that the government is changing the way they funds canadian sports with more percentage of the fund going to sports that have high chance of capturing olympic medals.... Well, there goes funding for cdn badminton and other emerging sports. Before i though communist countries were bad but canada is no better now.

There will never be money for badminton in Canada with the government always funding for the devlopment of little Gretzkey's and lil' Lemieux's.

lol.... we SHOULD protest... badminton is so underrated in Canada... I mean... how many people watch darts on tv? I'd say that more people would watch badminton... yet darts gets lots of air time...

I watch anything that draws my interest on TV. I recalled watching a spelling bee on TSN, now that was funny.

And the funny thing is badminton is probably much more popular than some of the other sports shown. I mean, billiards, ten-pin bowling, darts...... come on CBC, what the heck are those corporate business heads smoking now to choose those "sports" over badminton. Don, if I lived in the East, I'd definitely come crash at your place! :p

I don't think a million dollars won't help. The only thing I can think of is flood TSN, CBC and other sports channels with email about how good badminton is and how many potential viewers there are.

The next beg thing is to just goto the HQ and beg!!

well, i think flooding them would just piss them off.... we should just send SOME mails expressing our feelings toward their choice of sports to broadcast...

do send letters and email to cbc and tsn but be objective and diplomatic in your content. Don't flame as it maybe be counter productive. I think a million letters/emails is more effective than a million buck.

    letters

zero, i think a short email or leeter out of your own thought is more effective than thousands of canned letters or emails. I also think letters/emails from the junior audience is even more effective as you guys represent the future sports of canada

If you guys go to the IBF's calendar of events, just above the date for the US Open, is a little line that says "canadian open"!

The website for badminton canada holds no information that is easy to be found on the matter but I gather from past postings about the website that this is nothing to be surprised about.
