    Hi,

I am using At800of with a BG80@23lb for now.. and i do see some ware off on the string, and i think it is about time to replace a new one (2 months old)

I want to try BG85@26*28lb, but will this string get loose very fast?
I like to smash and i smash alot.

    any ideas?
    thanks

Wear and tear is different from losing tension on the string. Wear and tear will be faster with higher tension. Tension loss is a fact of life and there is nothing you can do to stop tension loss completely. However you can slow down tension loss slightly with appropriate stringing techniques.

    Hi,

    1 agree with Taneepak.
    i think the BG 65 string will last u abt 1-2 months if u r a smasher.
The tension will become lose if u put the racket aside without playing for some time.

ok, what i mean is my string is getting wear and tear which i will accept...

i am now asking if bg85 will lose its tension more often than bg80.

i know bg65 will lose its tension really fast, especially at high tension like 26x28lb which i am about to try.

once again, will bg85 lose its tension @ 26x28lb faster than bg80?

    Hi,

From personal experience, BG85 does tend to fray, and also note that 26lbs is nearing the upper end of what it was designed to be strung at.

    i second this whole-heartedly.

black knight 735 ti - bg85 @ 24lbs, after three months of action, fraying at various points around the frame, and several points on the stringbed.

carlton ab superlite 1 - bg85 @ 24lbs, after 3 weeks of action, fraying quite visibly at 3*clock, on two consecutive grommets.

carlton ab superlite 2 - bg85 @ 24lbs, 1 day of action, no fraying yet.

both carltons were strung at the same time.

as for tension loss, it has done VERY well. even with the harshness of canadian winter, it holds it's tension.

The life of BG-85 is very short if you intensively use it in high tension, so don't worry about the tension loss............ Just worry about your purse...............:D

BG85 is thin (0.67), I always manage to break the string (2-3 weeks) before noticing any significantly tension lost. I strung my rackets @ 23lb, and I hardly identify myself as a smasher. ;)

    BG85 tension loss

I find that BG 85 hold its tension very well, unlike 65 which i terrible. BG85 will wear out firly quickly though and will most likely break before it loses tension. Bg 80 is a good alternative if you are breaking too aften if you don't like the tension loss of 65. I am also trying out SOTX string in the near future and hopefully these will have good feel and little tension loss.

if u see wear on the strings at 23lbs after 2 months.....then at 26 28 you'll probably break it in less than 2 months. therefore like people have said before, don't worry about the tension loss...worry about the cost:p

I use BG85 on all my rackets, even my backup, which hardly ever gets used and indeed, tension is retained for a long time. I am generally OK with using BG85 since I am not that powerful a hitter and rarely break strings, although I notice that now that Ive switched to my AT800DE ive broken my string twice when I never broke my string playing my AT700 for almost a year =)

I have the exact same experience with breaking strings with my AT800DE, and NOT with my AT700! I broke my BG66@26lbs 3 times already in about 2 hours of play on my AT800DE, while have not yet broken my AT700 string, same BG66@26lbs for over 20 hours of play! After a 4 restringing, I'm afraid to play with my AT800 now. I don't break strings much with any other racquet, except for AT800DE.

My Ti-10 and AT-700 have BG-65 at 28 lbs main X 30 lbs cross strung by a constant-pull drop weight machine. The resulting tension lasts for a long time: we are talking about more than 2 months.

maybe we are achieving faster swing speeds with the AT800DE?
