When I visit the IBF home page, the linmk is there for results, but it comes back as "about Blank" (Because I think they are not supplying them) The only things available is the draws, which will be slowly updated the day after.

Hopefully someone watches the TV, or has an unofficial link.

Well, the result link on the main page of worldbadminton.net is working now. Of course, don't expect the updates to be quick. I think the first qualifying round results are in.

Yes they are now, it works.

The qualifying seems somewhat dominated by INA players- there are no other players in the qualifying rounds other than Home players!

Yes, the Qualifying Rounds, in all 5 fields in this year's Indonesian Open ONLY have Indonesian players..So of course, all the winners/qualifiers will be Indonesians..
PB PBSI(the Indonesian badminton organization), were planning to send all of their "players" that are currently training in their NTC(national training centers) to the tournament, as well as other independent players that are not in the NTC(national training center)..

I think they don't need to play in the qualifying rounds :)

This is what i've wrote the other day about the funny ranking in this year's Indonesian Open. For some reason, the ONLY ranked player who is getting a bye/will not play in the first round is Taufik Hidayat. The rest of the ranked players(ie. Lin Dan, XiaXZ, ChenH, BaoCL, Sony Kuncoro, Lee CW) will all play in the first round except Taufik...
So the answer is, yes all the Chinese players(ranked ones) HAVE TO play in the 1st round..
    clear as mud??..:).

It means that before the first round even starts, some low-ranking or unranked players have to play to put themselves in the first round.

According to the draw, Taufik has a qualifier in the first round. Well, he is the only seeded player to play against a qualifier, but I think it is just the luck of the draw, I guess.

I don't know the regulations well, but I should suppose that qualifiers would have to play seeded players in the first round. But this is not the case in Indonesian Open. We have in one 1st round match "Alan Chan (Nzl) vs Qualifier" and in another "Ng Wei vs Simon Santoso". If the qualifiers have to play the top seeded players, then it lessens the chance for good unseeded players like Simon or Hafiz to face seeded players in the first round.

Maybe i'm wrong about this, but from what i've read and seen before, usually *all* Qualifiers will play some seeded players(ie. say if there are 16 seeded players and there are 8 Qualifiers, then those 8 Qualifiers will play the top 8 seeded players).

One example is in the recent U.S. Open held in Los Angeles, I was there at the preliminary drawing meeting, a day prior to the start of the main draws. What they did was they took all the Qualifiers and match them up with the seeded players. In case if there are withdrawn players, they would do a random/pick-out-of-the box format to decide which qualifiers will play the seeded players.

Again, like hcyong wrote, i too don't really know how they(the IBF people) did the draw. Maybe it's luck. I don't know, but it's just kinda "funny" it happened to 1 person, and that person would be Taufik.......Anyhoo..

wondering why there are no result? no website? nothing?

it's because all IBF bonafide journalists were staying too late last night at INDONESIA 7 LEVELS of HEAVEN "HAILAI"

    >> It is the policy of the International Badminton Federation (IBF) that
    >> media
    >> accreditations for its events are only granted to bona fide journalists
    >> or
    >> photographers, working for recognised news organisations, and to press
    >> officers working for IBF's national associations.
    >>
    >> With the rapid expansion of the internet in recent years, I receive many
    >> requests for press passes from badminton fans such as yourself who
    >> "write
    >> for the internet" (which, with respect, anybody can do) but who cannot
    >> be
    >> considered legitimate media personnel. Applications for new media
    >> organisations are considered, but are subject to the same professional
    >> journalistic standards as applications from traditional written media.
    >>
    >> Well-meaning as your intentions, you would not at the present time be
    >> granted media accreditation for IBF events.

is that what you got when trying to apply for media accreditation? what credentials did you use and under what organization? just curious.
