I was thinking of getting the racquet strung between 24-25 lbs. What do you guys think? Is it too dangerous to string that a tension that high for a such a light racquet (4U)? Thanks!

armortec is supposed to be able to handle higher tensions than other yonex rackets.

and 24-25 lbs is not THAT high even for non-armortec rackets

    3U 20-25lbs, 4U 19-24lbs

I have strung my AT800 DE 3U with BG66 at 24lbs mains and 25lbs cross, but looking at Yonex recomendations,

    AT800 DE 3U 20-25lbs,
    AT800 DE 4U 19-24lbs

it depends if it is electronically strung or manually... usually a manual strung feel like 22lbs on electronic.... so pro stringing up to 34< is not true to be accurate they only strung up 28</= to 30.... becuz even for a SOTX racket(woven)....at 27lbs electronically they say its a little risky.... even tho they guarantee <31lbs....

well, there alot of factor to look at.

Like what kai said, the machine will affect the accuratcy
AT800 should not have any problem with 25lbs.Although there always a risk..

my friend recently strung his old Cab20 with BG65Ti @25lbs. no problem. if something that old can handle that (with thicker string too) i don't think AT800 would have problem doing the same. ;)

No problem stringing it at 25lbs.. i've tried stringing it on an electronic stringing machine at 31lbs. Oh man i tell you.. its tight! Its safe.. so far no complains from the owner of the racket. :) Thank GOD! So go ahead and string yours at 25lbs.

But given the brittleness of BG 66, wouldn't the strings wear out easily?

yea.... Yonex play safe... VERY SAFE... usually they put xx-yylbs but actual fact it can go xx-yy+5~6lbs or even more... but the only bad thing is... if it breaks... the warranty cant do anything as u void their recommendation..

Well its by the owner's request that i strung it at that tension. However i personally dont think that the string will last that long.. maybe a week or 2 for regular play. Well i've tried playing with that tension on my own racket , it does bounce.. but not as much.

Somehow, I get the feeling the cab20 is very good in durability, when compare to the new series, such as Ti, MP, etc.

    thoughts about 26lb on Ar800

    Hi,

just got the racket back today and had a 3 hours practice.
    Armortec 800 OF 4U @ 26x28lb w/ BG-85

hmm, it is too tight, as i can't even smash.. i don't have great sound with it either. that means 26x28lb is too tight for me..??

    i was using BG80 @ 23lb.

now i wonder what prevent me from a good smash(just say my other techniques are alright).. is it the string too tight? is it bg80 or bg85 difference?

BG85 is very thin. For my own experience, BG85 @ 23lb feels at tight as BG65 @ 25,26. Therefore, I think it might be the ultra high tension (to an average player lvl) kinda prevent u to smash with full potential.

Team up with AT800OF, which is a very stiff racket, the situation could be worse.

mmmm....what was wrong with the 23lbs tension?
28 is mighty high you know...that could well be the reason that your smash is not as good

The woven method of BG85 and BG80 should be the same, the density of two string should be also similar and BG80's diameter is thicker than BG85, so BG85 should be lighter than BG80. Even like that, I don't think the difference can be distinguished by human hand.
