I know that BG-66 has a poor durability.But in terms of High repulsion power and Louder sound,which one is better?I need many comments on this because some of them said BG-85 is better in terms of sound and repulsion but some of them said is BG-66.I am confused.
Both are very good strings. There are two types of BG66, the old type and a new replacement type. If the BG66 string packet bears the words "High Repulsion" then it is the old type. If it has "Great Repulsion" then it is the new type. In terms of repulsion the old BG66 and BG85 are rated equal. The new BG66 has higher repulsion power than BG85 and the old BG66. I have been using the new BG66 for a few months now, and if you string your racquet to 25lbs you can feel the repulsion power in the resonant sound of your shots, which sound like musical explosions.

The difference between great and high repulsion is also confirmed in the string characteristics diagram shown on the back of the string packet. Both BG85 (High Repulsion) and the old type BG66 (High Repulsion) have only 8 notches on the repulsion power scale in the diagram. The new BG66, like the BG68Ti, are labelled as "Great Repulsion" on the front of the packet, and both have 9 notches on the repulsion power scale.
Are you sure that the new BG-66 had 9 notches on the repulsion power scale,it seems to be the same as the old one with 8 notches.Also,BG-68 Ti is thick and i tried it before,it has low repulsion power and regarding sound,i have only one word to describe 'SOFT'.I don't like BG-68 Ti at all,i think that the words 'Great Repulsion' they just put it for show.
You probably have the old type BG66. The words "High Repulsion" on the front of the packet indicates that it is the old type and the 8 notches is what high repulsion means. BG 68Ti is supposed to be a hard string, not soft like BG85. I have used BG68Ti but only on titanium racquets, and I have no reason to disagree with Yonex's great repulsion rating.
1. BG68Ti is only 0.68mm, I will never rate it as "thick". 2. With my own experience, BG68Ti is more of a hard feeling string, and no where near to be "soft", even I only strung at 22, 23 lb. The repulsion power is amazing, but I gave it up after I have a hard time to get the control out of it. Maybe u feel "soft" with it, just because of the tension is low?
Bg 66 I use BG 66 for my lighter head rackets and BG 85 for my heavier head rackets. All the rackets are strung at 25 lbs. Performance , and durability wise the rackets with bg66 perform the best. I had a friend yesterday pick up 30 sets of BG 66 for me paid $3.40 US for each set so not that expensive. so stick to the 66.
Bg-66 I tend to agree. Tony, can you please advise where one can buy the new BG-66 for $3.40 USD? Is there a minimum purchase quantity? Thanks.
Hmm... Never really tried BG66 only 85.... I personally dun really like 85....sound ok...repulsion ok... 66 is thinner thus more feel and resillence... But if u r really looking for feel try the SOTX 0.65 string and no...i am not endorsing for SOTX
