IF it only hurts when u move it inwards like mine (it hurted for about 1 year) then i think there is nothing to be worried about. But i think u should see a chinese doctor. i went to hong kong and saw a doctor he did this strange massage which healed it completely for about 2 hrs lol then he put this bandage on with herbs in it. It can't be that bad twisting your ankle coz i have twisted mine at 3 times:( I don't think your anke will heal straightaway maybe a few months but i don't think it is too serious it might just hurt when u move your foot inwards.

And one reason why you twisted your ankle could be the trainers you wear. I only twist my ankle with nike trainers lol

If possible, you might want to get a pair of anklewears (supports).
(Wearing a pair is good because it's more balance in that way)

Right after you do the twist, do the "R.I.C.E."

    Rest
    Ice
    Compress (bandage it)
    Elevate

I sometimes take an anti-inflammatory pill like ibuprofen or tramal (this is the brand name - - check the internet for its name in your country) a few hours after. Of course, make sure your doc says its ok for you to pop this pill (you may be allergic). Helps a lot to decrease the swelling and heals much faster.

If you don't like pills, my sports doc advises dipping the ankle in very warm water for 15-20 minutes 3X/day.

If it's fractured you probably won't be able to put weight on it, unless you have a high pain threshold. .

    Very Effective Advice

I was on the BBC sports website and they had some very good advice.
    1. First you remove any items of clothing from your feet.
    2. Prepare a bucket of ice water, and a bucket of "very" hot water, but not too hot that it'll burn.
    3. Place your ankle in the cold bucket for 2 minutes.
    4. Then place your ankle in the hot bucket for 2 minutes.
    5. Do this repeatitively about 10 times, daily.
The science behind this is that, by cooling your ankle and heating it, it will open and close your blood vessels. This would make the blood flow and clean out your leg. It will also help the swelling.
    It's very effective...

In other words cold and heat packs, you can get gel packs which can be frozen and/or heated either by boiling or microwave.

They would do a similar thing, the only difference would be the bucket might promote better circulation because your entire ankle is covered whereas the gel packs can only cover a smaller space or one side efficiantly.
