Mizuno are specialist in sports shoes. Yonex doesn't come close. But as in any business where synergyism, and/or forward and backward integretion makes sense, Yonex has capitalised on it's brand to go into shirts, bags, strings, socks, stringing machines, etc but confined to only badminton or tennis. Brand name sells even if the products are not top dogs.

I think Yonex is the oldest brand around.Yet,it's japanese, which is well known for their quality.But!!..i guess, speaking of the racquete,i guess yonex isn't really the best.Still got so many other brands that also has the racquete that isnt worse from the yonex. At least that's what my coach said.He uses TSF300A which he said isn't worse than the MP100JP,which he also use..at all.Even he said,TSF300 feels better to play withI guess ppl buy yonex because they trust the name, even that u gotta pay more for that.Like nike, ppl feel good to wear nike, but doesnt mean nike produces the best shoes or apparels. Its big name what makes u think it's good. But one thing for sure, nike owns the bigger share of market for his name. The same with yonex!

I'm a big Yonext fan but my collection is quite poor by comparison.
3 Racquets
2 Bags
2 Shirts
2 Pairs of shorts
3 Pairs of socks
1 pair of shoes
and obviously loads of shuttles.
I guess I must try harder!

I am a Yonex Sucker for long time.. You HAVE to respect the company and its continous focus on our belowed sport!!!
BUT...
I always try to put "feelings" and "brand-name" aside if I am able to when evaulating and spending my money...
There is a problem when "brand" becomes more important than "quality" and "performance".... I really hate generalisations like "brand A" has higher quality then "brand B".. and things like "was made in.. means highr quality etc etc..
The human mind tries to "simplify" things and generalize... This is what makes a strong brand name more important than the "factual" quality...
Its always good to think like "Would I pay this for this model, if it where a no-name brand..." as a litmus-test

Or maybe he simply has a point...
Peronally I love alot of products from Yonex.. But as I stated many times.. I utterly hate the "brand" genrealizations.. Yonex make good stuff and bad stuff. just like there are good mercedes car models and other models from the same brand that really suck...
And I dont like fanatism in any form... It would be nice if we could all try to be objective an without prejudice or making "religion" out of badminton-gear

I have several YY rackets, they are great. But I also have a few other brands as well. What I like about Yonex is that their higher end rackets are all made in Japan. Gosen I believe are great rackets as well, apparently some high end models are made in Japan and are sold there exclusive. This is the another problem that makes Yonex so popular, because of the company's international vision. This is very non-Japanese, as most of you know, most Japanese companies always reserve their best products to be sold in Japan only, whereas Yonex distribute their entire range of product worldwide. This helps a lot. I myself definitely fancy a few more Yonex rackets in the future, but then I definitely don't mind trying out other brands as well, especially with the lower price/performance ratio.
