    My question is about Boys Singles up to 9 points. I know the rules of badminton and how to score but i do not know when you are suppose to change sides. Is there a quick and easy way to remember what side you are suppose to be on when you serve? Please can somebody help me. Thanks

    In singles, the person on the serve is the one 'controlling' the position. WHat i mean is if you are on odd points like 3, 5 , 7 you serve from your left side of the court diagonally to your opponent's left side and right if your points are even like 2,4,8 etc. It doesn't matter what score your opponent has be it even or odd when you serve.

    Just my advice.

    Cheers!!!

    So to remember i could use:

    For the person serving
    Left side = even numbers
    Right side = Odd numbers

    Oh wouldnt it be left side with the even numbers because the score starts on 0 and then goes to 1 on right side...then goes to 2 on left side...then 3 on right side...and 4 on left side?

    it is quite simple. look at your own score:

    even -> right side
    odd -> left side.

    10. SINGLES

    10.1 Serving and receiving courts

    10.1.1 The players shall serve from, and receive in, their respective right service courts when the server has not scored or has scored an even number of points in that game.

    10.1.2 The players shall serve from, and receive in, their respective left service courts when the server has scored an odd number of points in that game

    The other way around:

    Start on right, with 0 ---> switch to left, with 1 ---> switch to right, with 2, then goes on. :)

    c'mon newb, if its up to 9 points, then switch sides when the first person reaches 5 points. All baddminton players should know this simple knowledge.
