This ranking is based on the Ranking points of the 3 or 2 highest ranked singles players and the 2 or 3 highest ranked doubles pairs of each Association, ranked on the current individual World Ranking lists. Even if an Association has only two or one players or pairs ranked on the individual World Ranking list, the team of that Association is still ranked. Players non eligible to represent their Association are not taken into consideration.

To set up the team ranking list, each team is opposed to all the other teams in a computer simulation (round-robin), using the T&UC and SC system. In each team the players and pairs are placed in ranking order. 2 points are awarded to the winning team of each of these matches, the losing team getting 0 points. When there is a tie, which may happen when players of opposing teams have the same Ranking, each of these teams receives 1 point. The final ranking order is determined by the total number of points earned by each of the teams.

A virtual match won would give the team 2 points, a tie would give 1 point and a loss does not earn the team any points. The total number of points gained by a team determines their Team Ranking.

These team ranking lists are taken into consideration for seeding at the T&UC elementarily / final stage and SC elementarily (if possible) / final stage.

If so, I think the Sudirman Cup world mixed championship in Beijing this year will be a "peace" competition in comparison with that one in 2003.

Group 1 should use the same drawing lot system as the others.

Sorry if i get this wrong or miss the point of showing the list, but IMO, not to discount or discredit the list, but i don't think the total points in the list reflect well well..Esp. for the TC & UC, which don't involve any XD field, whilst the list include the XD field...

    Good job! :)

But their is a flaw in your calculation, Arif Rasidi (#49 in MS) is NOT elligible to represent France (he is Indonesian).
Best french elligible MS player is Jean-Michel Lefort (#78 in MS).

Yes, he plays in France and is entered by the french federation in international tournaments (this is why he is marked as "FRA"), but he is Indonesian, and can not represent France in team events, nor world champs or olympics.

For your information, he is Pi Hongyan's sparring-partner.

    I see.

Thanks for your information, I'll correct it. But because the IBF didn't mark these players/pairs specially, I'm afraid there are still the same mistakes in my list above. :p

    ,
Yes, there are probably quite a few other cases like this one in other countries.
IBF marks the country who enters the player instead of the player's nationality, which is rather annoying when comparing countries strengths.

    Matches you mean?
Well, I think he's there more for exercises and when playing matches, he probably has sort of orders of how to play, for it to be close to WS game...

If they had to play a real match, he would obviously win it easily, he is a top quality player (in the world top 50 without even proper training) and there is anyway too much difference between men and women in badminton!
