No he is not the best. I beat him the other night in my dreams. I doubt he has ever beat me in his dreams, so I guess it's 1-0 to me.

I agree. Ranking can only show a player is more consistent at a period of time. But again, how to identify "best", talent? real performance? consistency?

Taufik beating LD recently in the World Champs doesn't necessarily mean he is better than him. I could easily claim the same that LD is way better than Taufik because he beat him in the Sudirman Cup.

all players have weaknesses and strong points. Example: Lin Dan may have lost to Taufik, but Lin is able to defeated chen hong, but chen hong defeated Taufik. the situation goes on with many other players.

Not even close - Taufik is the best. Wins when he needs to. Mentally tough as nails. Most players are already a set down before setting foot on the court.

Try this. Would you not say Tiger Woods is the best in his sport? He gets beaten 3 times out of every 4 in tournaments he enters yet wins when necessary (majors/big tournaments). Much like Taufik, he's got this mental grip on his opponents.

Wins when HE needs to? Sudirman Cup 05 Finals China Vs. Indonesia. Did he win? No.
