I have the impression that there is no prize money. What do you mean by 3,50,00$? Three hundred and fifty thousand?

I can't help but wondering whether in india, you have a different numbering system - no offence, because we usually comma every three digits, so that you have thousands, millions, billions. :p :D

three fifty thousand should be 350,000?

yes in india we have thousands, lakhs and then crores[which is why i thought not to put any commas in order to avoid confusion].but, coming back to the topic of discussion i just read in a few threads that there is no money for the WC.is this true????

if all the money in the WC is going to be taken by the IBF let's just hope they are gonna make good use of it.but if u are a player that's got to hurt.but in the end i guess the WC is the WC,money or no money.

There is no money to start with, so it cannot be taken by anybody including IBF. In badminton, at least tournaments like WC, Olympics, team competitions and even the low-prize-money All-England, are taken very, very seriously. Unlike in tennis, where multi-millionaires skip the Davis Cup for personal gain.

I've heard that they split the money evenly. The winners usually get their money from posting for an add.

    I'm not too sure!

it's true, the top 2 events in badminton have no prize purse, just medals, officially. Players do get some monies but those r from sponsors, gov't or other irregular source. I dunno if thomas and uber is the same too, no prize purse, just glories

I too has a question, if star rating of tournaments are based on purse prize amount, wouldn't the olympic and WC bee zero star tournaments? :D

The glory of just winning the World Championship title is better than any prize money to me :D I'd say it's an even trade. And I think if the players really thought otherwise, they wouldn't show up to Worlds. But year after year, several countries and hundreds of players show up for the privilege of participating in such a prestigious tournament and for the hope of becoming the next world champion.
