I usually play badminton for exercise. (not in any compettition) Last week My close friend broke my Wilson Hyper carbon racket. I didn't blame him at all, it's accident. Yesterday, he bought a Yonex AT800OF 3U4G for me. Its more than 2 times expensive than my old Wilson Hyper Carbon. I would like to try a natural gut for a long time ago, but never have a chance. This time, I got a racket for free. So, I have money left to spend on expensive string. (Just to try it once) Durability is not a problem. I bought Babolat VS touch 0.70 version (I think they also have .75) As you know it is expensive string. I don't want to missused it and loose all its benefit. Then I need your help on which tension should I use to string it and anything I should aware. I'll let an experience guy in a sport shop string it for me. I don't know type of machine they use, what I saw is it look big have 4 point support with digital screen on it. Information about me: -Just play badminton for excercise (but always play regulary) -I didn't have a lot of arm power like pros. (but not too week, lets say average power) -I play both offensive and defensive style -My old racket use a tension of 20lbs. I feel OK with it my arm not hurt or tired when play for a long time. ** My question are: 1. Which tension should sutible my situation and equipment? Should i string it at 20 or try a bit more tension like 22-23 (As many of you guy said 23 is ideal for most people, and more tension you tend to get more control) 2. Are there any bad point if I string it at 23(3 lbs more than what I usually use now)? Like get less power than 20lbs tension give. (remember I'm not pros. and didn't have a lot of arm power) I don't worry about durability because I just try it once. 3. Should main and cross use the same tension? or better to put 2 more on cross (Like 22 main 24 cross) Is it diffrent? 4. Are there any diffrent stringing Natural gut and synthetics? Should I aware something or what shold I told the stringer to care more about? (not many people use natural gut, he just string gut only a few times) Thank you very much in advance for any suggestion. Duke
not having used gut before, all i know is that tensions are much lower than synthetics, as they cannot take anything over 24lbs or something... atleast i think i remember reading it somewhere here. correct me if i'm wrong!
Babolat Website said VS touch can string at 9-12 kgs. (arround 19.8-26.45 lbs) My racket AT800OF 3U4G have manuf. suggested of 20-25 lbs After do search, I think I better string it at 20 lbs (same as my old racquet) to be sure I'll not have dificulty playing with it. (I didn't have a lot of arm power) 1. Should it OK at 20lbs? (for general use) 2. Do I need to put +2lbs on cross? (read some where that ISO head need to put +2lbs on cross) Does it give any diffrent? Thank you
20lbs? Hmm...not much arm power?? I think you can slightly more as the shopkeeper i frequent alot claimed that guts has high repulsion and good for pple who does not have alot of arm power..
