    Oceania Badminton Confederation (OBC)

Badminton Australia (BA) hosted a three day of meetings with the OBC in Melbourne last week and this was attended by Punch Gunalan, IBF Vice President. Significant changes to the OBC occurred. The key decisions of the meeting were:

    1. The winding up of the old OBC
    2. The establishment of a new OBC and adoption of a new constitution
    3. The registration of the new incorporated body in Melbourne, Victoria
    4. The election of a new Executive (see below)
    5. The establishment of the OBC Office in Melbourne (shared with the BA office)
    6. The recruitment of an administrative person (2 days a week) for the new Melbourne Office

A new Executive consists of a President, Deputy President, Secretary General and up to five Vice Presidents – each carrying a portfolio such as Tournaments/Events, Marketing, Finance etc.

Robin Bryant (BA President ) is the new President of the OBC. Nigel Skelt (Badminton NZ President) is the Deputy President. The Vice Presidents are Leao Akeripa To'alepaialii (Samoa), Warren Yee (Fiji), Fabien Kaddour (New Caledonia) and Geraldine Brown (BA Board member) . Portfolios for these VPs is yet to be determined.

The OBC will be advertising for a Secretary General position – a 2 day a week – to work out of the BA office.
