where do you look when you serve?

i dunno if this has been mentioned or not (dont have the time to read through all the pages

) i was playing with someone the other day... sometimes when he serves, just as he drops the birdie to serve, he quickly flicks his head backwards to distract the opponent

it's worked a couple of times actually.. the opponent gets so distracted he misses the birdie completely

For high clear serve I look at the empty space (The upper of oppoent)
For short serve I look at the opponent

I for one is not bothered to look at the server but the bird & racket motion when receiving a serve.

My coach said that it isn't very wise to look at the opponent in the eye when serving , and that you should look at it's racquet position , where your opponent is positioned etc . ( to give you ideas on where you should hit it so that it can force a weak return) -- just not stare at them in the eye .

I'm not entirely sure why , but I think , like cappy said , the pressure is on the servers . It's more like you getting intimidated by your opponent then the other way around ...

i used to look at my opponents when i served then i noticed the bird would go higher over the net because i was focusing above the tape now i look right at the tape and my serves are low and tight

First I look at my feet, so that I stand in the right place (mustn't touch the lines).

Then I look at the shuttle and racket, so that they are placed correctly.
Then I look at the receiver's feet before i hit the bird...My peripheral vision is on the place where i wanna place the bird...I don't look at where i'm planning to hit to make him guessing...And also, looking at his feet kinda makes me anticipate if he's going to rush my drop serve...

Before every serve I make, I look 2 cm. in front my right foot for 3-4 sec. to keep a focus. Then when I'm serve I'm looking at oppenents feet to see if he's rushing my serve or not.

But when I'm recieving a serve have eyecontact for a sec, then I'm focusing on the bird to see how it's angled.

I've been thinking about this when I play, and I've noticed that I don't do what I thought I did.

I thought that I looked at the opponent.

In fact, I look at the net and the opponent. My focus is slighty more on the net, but I can see what the opponent is doing too.

Very good question.
I usually look at the net, to analyze where to hit the birdie.
The top of the net is usually where i look.

If you don't take a look at your opponent, might you possibly serve before your opponent is ready, and that your opponent might demand you to serve again?

That's the problem... it's almost unreadable

. Too big and it will be like shouting, too small and our eyes actually hurt cuz we have to work harder to decipher those words. Somewhere around the medium size font would be great. Thanks

Leave the font, size, and colour effects alone. The default values are chosen to be clear to read, and there's nothing "individual" about choosing your own text style.

The only time to change them is when you want to make a specific point using formatting, like this:

Leave the fonts alone!

I always check to see if my opponent is ready first. Then I check to see that my feet are in place (the shuttle and racket positioning have become so natural to me that I don't bother to look) and decide where I want to serve. From then on my eyes are on the tape until the shuttle goes over the net
