What are some good stores to buy Badminton shoes?(Yonex prefered or Clones) And what are the avg prices for them and what shoes would you prefered??
Try searching it. Here's a whole list of threads to read regarding the matter. Cheers http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/search.php?searchid=160199
A number of stores are available in Vancouver. You have your usually big box stores like Sport Mart, Sportchek, etc. Or you could go to specialized stores like Tad's, Racquets & Runners, Abbies or even Impulse Sports in Richmond. ClearOne apparently has some good deals.
I bought mine at ClearOne. I highly recommend the Yonex 89mg. Since putting them on, I haven't got an ankle injury. They are very comfortable shoes. ClearOne also provides lessons but I don't have time to take them. Note: Buy close-fitting Yonex shoes because you are not buying a walking shoes (bigger size is for walking). Make sure you bring a map if this is your first time visiting ClearOne. It is behind some warehouses. http://www.clearonebadminton.com/
Ugh! Impulse Sports?! I went there and the place looked good. Very posh. Unfortunately it seems to carry only the popular racquets and shoes, I don't recall seeing many badminton shoes besides Yonex. You definitely pay a premium for stuff there. Racquets & Runners, on the other hand, focus on footwear. Can't go wrong with RNR.
Is Impulse Sports the place inside the new Aberdeen Center? If it is, then I know what you mean about things being expensive there. The prices are like and extra 20% - 30% markup above all the other badminton stores. Take grip tape (A440) for example, it was $12 bucks at Impuse the last I saw months ago. The usual price I've paid is around $7 or $8. The same markup goes for much of everything else too it seemed.
Although this isn't a local, I go to www.canuckstuff.com to purchase mizuno shoes. They are an authorized mizuno seller. I find they're shoes are more durable and plus they sell their older model shoes for a discounted price.
Don't know where and how often you play but you run the risk of rolling your ankles with running shoes. Badminton shoes are lower to the ground (thinner soles) and have better side support because of the nature of the game.
I used to play tennis and I had a tennis shoe. Now, it seemed I played badminton more often than the tennis. Is it good to wear the tennis shoes for playing badminton? I think the characteristics of these two sports are quite similar
The characteristics of badminton and tennis shoes are quite different. For one the soles of badminton shoes aren't as thick as tennis shoes. Hence you get more feel for the ground and better mobility in terms of directional changes. Second badminton shoes are much lighter than tennis shoes.
i think they're marked down again to compete with clearOne's prices. i went there on friday, and the A440 was at $7.99 +tax.. and ClearOne is $7.50 tax inc. same goes for other things like rackets.. didn't get to look at shoes, but impulse isn't tax inc. so ClearOne is still cheaper
...for shoes...i'd recomend Tad's at 8570 Granville. their selection of shoes is the same if not better than most places. their prices are usually the same or lower than the other places...and best of all...they're willing to negotiate...i got my SHB-89MG for i think $95 or $100 or something around there...not too sure because my mom paid ...they were originally $120
Buying shoes in Vancouver Has anyone seen the asics typhoon, gel-VTR, sensei or any other asics court/volleyball shoes sold in Vancouver? Thanks in advance
Racquets N Runners along Oak St. and King Edward usually stock a variety of ASICS and Mizuno court shoes. They're really overpriced but that's the only source I know in lower mainland that carries the widest selection of court shoes. I got my last ASIC shoe (Gel VTR) online from an American volleyball website. Had to wait awhile for them to arrive, but they're cheaper even with s&h charges. http://www.allvolleyball.com/specials.ihtml PS: Isn't Sensei an ASIC runner shoe?
Don't think so... they carry the token top of the line Yonex shoes, Victor shoes and squash shoes like the heavier Hi-Tecs. VRC Hovel is pretty small comparing to other stores... it's a pro shop afterall.
