looks like all the top ranked players [taufik, lin dan etc] will be taking part in the all england .There was an article in the paper yesterday that Pullela gopichand will be taking part in both the german and all england open, and that is good news.
Upcoming German Open and All England.. Wow, looks like *all* the top Chinese players(MS, WS, MD, WD, MXD) will participate in German Open, which will be held at end of this month. So are all the top Malaysian, Denmark(except Gade), and Korean players. Hmm, I also noticed Peter Gade and Taufik Hidayat and Sony Kuncoro are skipping the German Open(don't see their names). Also don't see any Indonesian players playing in the German Open(they are the *only* top badminton country who won't be sending any players to German Open). Will they rest, train and prepare for the All-England which will occur right after the German Open??If so, will the Chinese, Denmark, Malaysian team be running out of gas when the All-England comes??.. I have a feeling Taufik and Peter Gade will meet in the MS Final, or at least in the Semis of the All-England.. http://www.german-open-badminton.de/Participants.41.0.html?&L=1
y gade, jonas and lars didn't participate in german open?? something happen with lars/jonas? many tournament they didn't participate............ :crying:
To Kwun- Kwun, don't know if you want to change it or not, but I noticed on the home page of the 2005 Tournaments, specifically for the 2005 German Open/All-England/Swiss Open, it has the wrong date for the German Open(currently it shows Feb. 22-27). The correct dates are: Feb. 22-27 for 2005 German Junior Open Feb. 28 through March. 5 for 2005 German Open All-England Open is the following Tuesday, March 8, 2005..
We haven't seen much of Pullela lately. The All England seems to be a venue for some interesting players to shine almost momentarily. I know Pullela and Hafiz have done well elsewhere but nothing compares to their success at this event. I watched Pullela in his last match at the Asian games in 2002 and I've never seen a player smash so seldom and yet all of his soft shots were so precise that he was very much in the game the whole way against hard-hitting Shon Seung-mo. Hafiz was similarly delightful to watch against Jonassen. He combined very few punishing smashes with some amazing trick shots, particularly crosscourt net shots, but unfortunately was never in the game. I would have liked to see him at his best in Birmingham, but even that high-profile event rarely makes it onto Korean TV. It would be nice if Pullela and Hafiz both regained some former glory this year.
Update on Indonesian team's participation in the upcoming 3 European GP tourneys Good news for Indo fans. Just read in an Indonesian newspaper website today, that barring any last minute changes or injuries, Indonesia will send their full-squad to the 3 European grand prix tournaments later this month. Much ahead and more prepared this time around. Their decision was based on the recent failure in the Korean Open, in which the director stated that they basically "rushed" the decision making in selecting and sending the players not until the last day before the tournament. Basically they weren't prepared for the tournament. Anyway, here are the list of the Indonesian players that will be participating, as given by PBSI. A bit of surprise here, is the inclusion of 2 Women Singles players. Hendrawan, the Women's Single coach, stated that the purpose of him sending 2 of his players is to make a "shadow team" for the upcoming Sudirman Cup in China. He won't give them any specific target, but just basically letting them be exposed to playing against the world's top-level players(ie. China's team) so they won't be "shocked" during the Sudirman Cup come May in China. Also, PBSI wants to expose and showcase 3 of their young players in this long European trip, Simon Santoso and the doubles pair Markis Kidho/Hendra Setiawan, playing them in all 3 tournaments. Swiss Open: MS - Simon Santoso WS - Adrianti Firdasari and Maria Kristin MD - Markis Kidho/Hendra Setiawan WD - Lita Nurlita/Jo Novita, Heni Budiman/Gresya Polii and Nathalia Poluakan/Rani Mundiasti MXD - None All-England MS - Simon Santoso, Taufik Hidayat WS - Adrianti Firdasari and Maria Kristin MD - Markis Kidho/Hendra Setiawan, Luluk Hadiyanto/Alven Yulianto, Candra/Sigit and Flandy Limpele/Eng Hian WD - Jo Novita/Lita Nurlita MXD - Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir, Anggun Nugroho/Yunita Tetty and Devin Lahardi/Eny Widiowati. Swiss Open MS - Simon Santoso WS - None MD - Markis Kidho/Hendra Setiawan, Luluk Hadiyanto/Alven Yulianto, Candra/Sigit and Flandy Limpele/Eng Hian WD - Heny Budiman/Gresya Polii and Nathalia Poluakan/Rani Mundiasti MXD - Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir, Anggun Nugroho/Yunita Tetty and Devin Lahardi/Eny Widiowati. Currently, the German Open website doesn't have their names up yet in their players list, but probably will update the list within a week or so.
so, i guess they'll send some juniors to GO, and their top guns to AE and SO, i wonder why taufik not taking part in SO,,,,
ctjcad, you wrote twice "Swiss Open" in your list, should we understand that the first one is in fact "German Open"??
well, i suppose he meant the first one is GO, becos the names are the names they mentioned in the newspaper
No, see the list again(that's what the newspaper website gave). If you look, there are different combination of players in each tournament. The only constant player(s) in all 3 tourneys are Simon Santoso, Markis/Hendra. I don't know whether PBSI will send all the players at the same time or they will come/leave separately.
You mean there are two different lists of players for ONE same tournament?? (Swiss Open) Also, where is the list for German Open then??? I can't follow very well...
Ah, I see where my the error is-thx for pointing that out again..Yes, it was a typo(can't believe i missed checking that one)-the first tournament, it should've been German Open instead of Swiss Open. The third one is correct, it's the Swiss Open, so there are no 2 lists for the Swiss Open... Sorry to all who got lostP.
I guess so, eventhough I'm sure they can play Men's Double or Women's Double. But the thing is, Indo's team never really had any players playing in 2 categories, esp. the Doubles/Mxd players. I'm not sure about other countries though, they might do the same thing like the Indo, having specialist players for a specific category only.
okay, sony dk will not compete in all england becos hes injured, also luluk hadiyanto was almost having the same situation with him, but it turned out he was fine and he can compete there
