taxes on digital cameras

    im from australia and im looking to buy a sony digital camera. does anyone know where the best prices are in the world?? and if i buy it off the internet from a US store, are there any taxes or hidden costs?? and also, how expensive is shipping and insurance?? if it says that the camera costs AU400, how much will i be paying after everything (insurance, shipping taxes).

    any comments would be greatly appriciated.. love from i_love_you

    My suggestion:

    Don't buy camera (especially the expensive ones) oversea because:
    1. You should test the unit before you buy, but with oversea buying, you can't. this applies to lens especially.
    2. Shipping, insurance, custom fees varies a lot. They are never cheap!
    3. What if you need to return the unit after few days? It will be hard to do.
    4. If you need to repair it in the future, will it be covered with warranty? I am not sure if your local agent will honor the warranty.....etc.

    and there are many more......
