Hi all, I was wondering if its alright to cut the length of a new grommet to accomodate the old one. I am asking becasue i notice the sharp edges that resulted from the cut grommet. One that is not cut has smooth edges. Rob
I did cut the gromments, to replace some old broken ones on my own racket before. I used fine sand paper to "smoothen" the cutting edge before installing it on the racket. So far, so good.
that's attention to detail! yes. new grommets on rackets have a slight tapered profile. aside from looking nice, it also weakens the grommet edge to protect the string. furthermore, some extra aerodynamics doesn't hurt either!
