in my opinion, theres never really a correct way of hitting a stroke. Its just practacing and finding what works for you. But read the articles on techniques written by kwun for advice :)

My backhand used to be my weakness, but I spent lots of sessions playing nothing but backhands, waiting for the ball to drop in order to hit a backhand, running around the forehand to hit a backhand etc. and step by step it improved immensely. How it is my pride and glory and I will happily pound away at the opponent using the backhand such is the power I have on it now.

Now I need to do the same for my forehand since it is much weaker than the backhand

i was recently training with one of the post-grads that go to my high skool because a bunch of them were at the drop-in program at the community centre that day. i looked over while taking a break and one of them was practising his backhand smash. as i watched everyone else backhand it seemed that their form was all different so in conclusion its just what works best for u.

just for a laugh....eventually the post-grad got warmed up and starting doing a "jump backhand smash." i attempted this about a week later and my wrist lost me that week of badminton playing lol.

You can also try the "wall technique".. standing to a wall and just doing the shot to get the timing right.. however I'm a bit curious regarding your post saying the players there have different forms.. as most of the top players have the same backhand basic form more or less.. may be you need a trainer... this could also help avoid possible injury.

    regards

when you do an overhead backhand which side is your racket head suppose to face to, to get a solid feeling hit? ie. more to the right or more towards the left?

heyx practice more.my backhand is also not that good but its really about finding your own technique.no one can take that away from you except yourself.maybe you can try watching some badminton videos.
