everything on the site seems to be moving a long really really slowly lately. i'm totally sure its not my connection or provider, or anything else on my end, since pretty much everything else is speedy speedy speedy. i posted a new post in a thread, went back and edited one single character and submitted my changes. where that used to take about 10 seconds at the most, it took almost three minutes, today. this slow behaviour has been present for a week now... is anyone else experiencing this?
I've noticed that the response lag from say a new post or a today's post grab has taken longer. Nothing in the minutes range though, just 7-10 seconds. Kwun, are we running high on the bandwidth? Is that the source of the delay? Or is it just as fast as that poor hard drive can run trying to keep up with us?
i was thinking it was bandwidth, but i don't think so now. i'm usually online sometime in the evenings, and so that is when i encounter the lag. right now (late morning), its pretty quick. almost like normal. but the number of users online is more than last night! there was 38 or so when i looked, and now theres almost 50. perhaps theres cache or log issues with the host or server and it needs to be cleaned out? i remember there was a time where someone forgot to delete the old logs on the site where i help admin/moderate at, and the harddrive filled up, and refused to take new posts and other uploads at all. but the symptoms of slowness preceeded that problem.
This is from the front forum page: "Most users ever online was 389, 01-28-2005 at 08:47 AM." Yikes!!! No wonder it can get slow.
remember BC is an international website. evening for you is midday for asian countries where we have a lot of members as well. there was a bit of a software problem yesterday but that was fixed. i have been noticing some lags as well, but for the most part, it is quite ok. will keep an eye out for it.
