Sorry,sorry because my tardy replies! Simply, I want to see about one of my countryman in this forum and now it is not a problem and now I am very nice to meet the new FRIENDS online!

If any one among you have a choice travelling to Ho Chi Minh City VN, plz join me. I will help you to shopping (of course, badminton equipment), playing (of course, in my club), discussing (of course, with the VN Badminton Federation), eating (of course, VNmese foods) and... drinking

(of course, if you could).
Why not we meet another of us? Probably, this makes a steadfast-string between us (definitely be more durable than the BG 65!)

I wished you had joined this forum much earlier, then I could have made arrangements to visit South Vietnam and meet up with you.

Instead, during the long Chinese New Year holidays in February, I took a trip to Hanoi instead, my first visit to Vietnam and to sample the wonders of Ha Long Bay.

But on my return, our Badminton group played a friendly match with the undergraduates of the National University of Singapore and their captain happens to be Vietnamese from your city! He is a very good player.

You're not alone, Anatolii. I was just as attracted to them - their innocence, their boundless energy, their enthusiasm and spontaneity.

Reminds me of my childhood in the early 50's, and Hanoi at this stage in not really very far from Singapore then, in terms of economic development. There's nothing to care about. Our parents left us much to our own devices. We enjoyed ourselves in free abandonment. What kept us going was play, play and more play. Only the ocassional cane and bamboo stick could keep us in check, that was when we went overboard like playing truant or engaged in fist-fights.

What you see of the adults in the pictures were their way of celebrating the Lunar New Year which is just the same as the Chinese, all 15 days and it is the same Year of the Cockerel.

You're most welcome, Dave. And Fend, even the youngsters are very good at Chinese chess and they do interact with the adults in public places.

Yes 2Love2Live, you can find Chinese characters in many places and even Chinese calligraphy is being practised. And you know what? Apart from the US$ the Chinese Yuan is only the other foreign currency allowed to be used.

I haven't read up on Vietnamese history, but I gathered that their top leaders, including Ho Chi Minh, went to France to study and to seek help in developing Vietnam and to fight for independence.

Maybe, I should post more pics in another thread as this is not the right place. Sorry for this.

Dear Loh and everyone, I'm very nice to meet you.Thanks Loh much for nice pics and a few introduction about my country and the Old Father of my people.The Chinese cultural's influence spread over our spirit, so that, you can see anything of it on our daily life.
As Loh said, Mr Nguyen Dong Nghi, a member of HCMC badminton team now are studying abroad and being the captain of Singapore National University badminton team.
To say again, if one among you has the travelling to HCMC- VietNam, pls join me for frienship!

Hi Tifam

Last Sunday, during our usual game at Shears Hostel, I checked and found out that Hoang Dong Hi was once a member of the Vietnam National Badminton Team. He is an ASEAN scholar here and is in the 3rd year of his IT studies at the NUS with another year to go. He also has a younger brother studying at the NUS. As I said before Nicky is still a very good player.
