    Didn't really find a similar thread to this, or may be I just didn't look hard enough. I'm just wondering, have anyone else thought about just how much whatever they have in their badminton kit bag are worth? And how that compares to what they usually have on their persons?

    As an example, even though I use cheap racquets (Yonex Carb. 8200 Light at
    ~$50/each), with 4 of them in my bag plus a tube of shuttle, they amount to over $200. That's about 5x to 10x what I normally have on my person in cash. Most times, I don't even carry that much cash.

    I started noticing other people's kits, nice big 6-racquet or 9-racquet Yonex/Babolat/Wilson/Prince bags; multiple Armortec 700s or 800s, MP-99s, Carb.-30MS/20MS, Yang Yang's, Carlton's, etc.; Yonex/Mizuno/Nike shoes, tubes of shuttles, etc. They must worth at least $500 and more each! And, yet, I see these bags including mine lying around on the gym floor unattended most of the time, including mine.

    I wonder if we'd be so non-chalant with our other equally valued kits (e.g., electronics) in the same setting.

    Are we taking into account depreciation, as my mp99 would only be worth half of the current (cheapest online i.e. new) price. My shoes would have zero resale value. The problem gets more complex with buying second hand racquets.

    Making life simple and halving my total expenditure on badminton in my bag, its worth roughly £125+£6 for shuttles as variable cost.

    PS agreeably, that amount is 5 times what I carry on me in cash.
    PPS also I could buy a brand new Harman Kardon amplifier for that amount!!

    Wow, you must be one of those "9 racquet bag and a few in the trunk" guys that Quasimodo mentioned!

    Does that include a stringing machine, or are you just incredibly unlucky when it comes to racquet breakages??

    are you looking for the stuff that we actually bring to the gym, or totaly value of all our badminton stuff?

    for gym-going items, i say around US$350. the non-gym items i think i need a bigger calculator... :)

    My own stuff might be around US$500. However, once I have another 12 rackets from others to string (including AT800, AT700, MP100, MP99, etc), so, do the calculation... ;)

    alright lets see, all the price is in CAD and its the price I got them. Retail price would be way higher.

    Yonex bag: 60$

    1xTi-10+Bg85: 200$
    1xcab21+Bg85: 110$
    1xmp99+bg85: 200$

    5x Pack of Bg85: 40$
    5x Pack of Bg66: 35$

    3xWilson overgrip: 12$
    3xKarakal Pu super grip: 13$

    Badminton yonex shirt: 60$

    Asic gel shoes: 95$

    So the total, is approximately $825 CAD

    I'm more curious about the value of your kit that you regularly leave unattended in plain sight in the gym. :) I'm sure that for some people here the value of all of their badminton stuff would be well into the 5 digits, may be even enroaching into the low 6 digits. ;)

    Nothing personal, I'm just curious, do you actually carry all those when you go to a gym to play? I know a guy who brings a big bag absolutely chokeful of badminton kits whenever he plays; but, he also sells them.

    But remember it might be best to spend $100 on a racket and the rest on coaching.

    It's not how expensive your kit is, it's how you use it that counts.

    True words Dill have said. But is he trying to hide his bag value :)?

    Lol. Mine would be around.... $400 SGD? at most.

    i understand what you are thinking now. yes. it is a concern, at least for myself, how much stuff i bring to the gym. in fact, the issue of theft in gyms have been discussion quite a few times before here in BC. you just need to do a search and find them.

    the obvious conclusion is to minimize the amount of valuable badminton items one brings.

    the most expensive items in our bags are the rackets. i have slimmed down from bringing 8-9 rackets to only 3-4 at a time. and i think nobody would want to steal my shoes... ;)

    Lol, that's my motto. I have around $130 in my kit and about $2000 in coaching :p

    Normally, I take 3 rackets to gym, along with other stuff:

    Bag: $50
    3 Rackets: $300 (let's just say it's $100/each)
    Bottle of drink: $1
    Scissor: $1
    Tape: $2
    Shoes: $50
    Knee support: $15
    Tube of Shuttle: $10 (it might not be full, so let's say it's $10)
    Extra T-shirt: $10
    ------------------------
    Total:$439 + whatever I have in my wallet that day :)

    Practicality wise, I think the most expensive item in the bag should be the wallet and I assume many people put their wallet in their bag. All your AMEX, cash, driver's license, identity card, business cards, prepaid cards etc etc.

    Racquets are expensive of course, but compared to the wallet - if I have to lose one, I'd lose the racquet.

    My kit on a normal day, excluding wallet, mobile phone and car keys;):

    1. Ti-10 (RM 420 or approx. US$110)
    2. Bag (RM50 => US$ 13)
    3. T-shirts (around RM 20 => US$5)
    4. One tube of shuttle -> presumably brand new (RM32 => US$8)
    5. Water bottle (RM3 => US$0.70)

    I don't put my shoes in the bag, I wear them.

    Total = US$136.70 - Hardly anywhere near what you guys have spent for the love of the game! :);)

    I have no useable racquets anymore. I still need to get my racquet from someone :rolleyes:

    So all I have are:

    Kason GS-50 - $55
    Yonex Bag - $30 (estimated)
    Victor Shuttles - $13

    Total: $98

    Anyone have less than me?

    Heres my attempt at the low bag value, prices approximated at USD:

    bag (equivalent to a 6 racket sized yonez bag): coporate giveaway, free

    shoes: victor court shoes, PhP 2500 = USD 50

    cab 21 sp, mp99 th : PhP 10000 = USD 200

    1 tube RSL official shuttlecocks: PhP 650 = USD 12
    1 tube used shuttlecocks: 0

    nike knee supports and tennis elbow strap: PhP 750 = USD 15

    shirts, shorts, towel: Most shirts are corporate giveaway shirts or freebies from local tournaments, but just for the heck of it lets put the shorts + towel at PhP 650 = USD 12

    Not in the bag, but basically beside the bag: Coleman water jug, PhP 650 = USD 12

    Total PhP 15,200 = USD 301

    Now those would be brand new values, which most of my stuff isn't. :D
