hello from shanghai this is joe, badminton in china is popular - everybody plays - no matter when i start to think i can beat some people i got beaten by somebody else. there are always people who play better so i have to keep improving my skills - hehe,

thanks to kwun and all contributors this is a great site, i've always enjoyed it even since i started this forum kinda addicted to it now.

i am a consultant - yeah consultant, you know how they work so playing badminton is the only way to keep me away from dying at work.

my hobbies besides badminton are snooker and beer. can play snooker like a professional - yeah - you know i am bragging, but hopefully haha maybe only the posture? and beer yeah i am pretty good at it too, last annual dinner during a beer contect i finished up first drinking a one-litre jar full of beer in FOUR seconds , haha yeah consultants are good at bragging but you are not bragging if you can back it up rite? :D

and now you know what is a dream day for me is like: a whole morning of snooker - a whole afternoon of badminton - and a whole night of beers hahaha and a big hangover the next morning with a brain so fxxked up that i can tell my full of bullsxxt boss to fxxk off and leave me alone ...

Welcome to BadmintonForum, 2love2live. How do you know your boss is not a forum member as well? :D

Are there a lot of drop-in places to play in Shanghai? Or do you have to join a club?

haha Dave thanks for the reminder, but i guess 2love2live can be anybody in the Internet, so even if my boss is a forum member - knock on wood (not sure whether i used this idiom correctly) - 2love2live does not necessarily have to be me ;) or who cares :D

yeah a lot of drop-in places to play but usually you find somebody you know to play with:p wonder whether there is a BFer group in Shanghai.

I smoked when i was in college, and the first several years after graduation. because when you are young you think smoking is kinda cool :) :D Quit about 3 years ago. I think pool/beer/cigarette are like buddy buddy you know when you are in a bar, but when I play snooker I seldom have beers because you don't pot when you are feeling high:cool:

    I think you've got 3 loves, not 2, and only 1 life, not 2. :D

    Welcome onboard!

Haven't been to Shanghai since many, many years ago. But now when I see images of Shanghai on the TV, the place doesn't look Chinese anymore. It's like you're in NY or any other modern cities in the world!

hi ceng, we use all kinds of shuttles their prices range from rmb 30 to rmb 70 per barrel (a dozen i guess, or 10, not sure) but most of them you will get for around rmb 40-50. rate of rmb to usd is approx. 8 to 1.

recently i joined a club and the birdies we use are tailor made(OEM) and named after the name of the club host - bluebird/QingNiao in Chinese if you read.

Durability - it's still pretty cold now so i guess we destroy about 2-3 shuttles every game? not sure. will be better when spring comes :D

Thx, i'm just trying to keep up with those younger whipper snappers.
I'm kinda lucky in a way i don't find pleasure in those habits. Even the casinos are too smokey for me to be in.

see this website - www.badmintonfan.com if you read Chinese. Usually when I buy badminton stuff I have two options: badmintonfan, which is the above, or www.bbesports.com, but bbesports does not have shops in Shanghai. These two don't sell fakes, which you know are more than plenty in China.

I bought my AT800Of from badmintonfan but I broke it new and bbesports repaired it :) amazing rite? haha broken rackets can be repaired!

But always check before you buy and don't be lured by unreasonably low prices.
