Smash City Badminton Facility -- Milpitas, CA

Smash City is pleased to announce its upcoming badminton facility near the Great Mall in Milpitas, CA. The gym will host 12 well spaced courts on IBF certified Teraflex flooring and 24' to 28' ceiling height. Courts will be well lit with diffused lights optimally placed to minimize glare. We will also have a full service pro shop, a large carpeted lounge/waiting area, and exercise equipment.

Smash City will provide member and drop-in play, junior and adult training, and tournaments. Anticipated operating hours are 9:00am to 11:00pm daily, with good on-site parking. Visit our website (http://www.smashcity.net) often for current status leading to our scheduled grand opening in early May 2005.

Smash City's training program will include professional coaches for both recreational and competive players of all ages. Our elite Junior program will be the strongest in the San Francisco Bay Area, featuring many of the USA's top junior athletes with more combined national titles than any other Bay Area program.

Smash City is dedicated to providing the best Badminton experience in the San Francisco Bay Area!!

Smash City is founded and operated by Jim Todt (jtodt@smashcity.net) and Wayne Lum (wlum@smashcity.net), both with vast experience as badminton parents, badminton players, tournament directors, and as (former) Badminton Association of Northern California (BANC) board of directors.

that's is very very excellent! Smash City will be the 3rd dedicated badminton gym in the SF Bay Area. this means we will have one more dedicated gym than the LA area. this is certainly the first in the country (correct me if i am wrong)

look forward to the grand opening, this is especially good for me as Milpitas is quite close to my home. :D

2 days each gym and the other day should be a traveling day to visit other lesser badminton facilities... ;)

sooner or later, the bay area will take over to become the location for badminton training. maybe they will start a NTC here. hey, dreams can lead to success!

OOo.... i almost live in the same road as SmashCity. it is a long road though. :)

    Kwun,
actually L.A./O.C.(to a certain extent) has 3 "dedicated badminton clubs/gyms"..One @ SGVBC(Rosemead), one @ OCBC(Anaheim) and one @ MHBC(Manhattan Beach). Eventhough I've never been there, but MHBC I think is the "fanciest" of all three(has swimming pool-hehe)...
Also, the next US NTC is already been appointed. It will be in Houston, Texas(as reported earlier this week by IBF). Too bad though, I guess once Don Chew steps down as President of USAB, it will be the end of OCBC as the NTC. :( Don Chew is actually the owner of OCBC, so basically he IS THE MAIN SPONSOR of USAB.
I wonder about the future of Tony/Ety/Halim, will they all move to Houston as well or stay put @ OCBC???...hmmmm..

Have any bad experiences to share? I've played there a few times and haven't had a problem. From some of Phu's posts it looks like he reads these forums, so he should be able to correct any 'definciencies' you've noticed ;)

I wanted to know what's underneath the Teraflex.

That makes a lot of difference in the feel of the Teraflex.
