They lost in the final of the Danish Open and the first round of the Korean Open. “It was a very emotional year and a little difficult for our relationship. We were spending more time off court together doing things than on court and we weren’t used to it,†Emms said. “On court things were not right. If we were 100 per cent at the Olympics, we were 85 per cent at the Danish [in October] and went down quite a way after that. But we’re back to 90 or 95 per cent now.†Lars Sologub, Britain’s Olympic manager, is critical of the Badminton Association of England for not helping the mixed pair more. He said: “It should have been considered whether they needed to compete before Christmasâ€
