What a QFinals!! Let's hope the SFinals are as exciting (because I'm watching on tv).

    MS
Lin Dan v Wong Choong Hann
Chen Hong v Lee Chong Wei

If Taufik were in, it would probably have been Lin v Taufik. As it is, he isn't, but in a tournament where he is the only notable absentee, the China v Malaysia SFinals do come as a surprise. Look who they had to beat to get to this point.
Lin Dan - Mehrabi, Oedum, Ghaffar and Lee HI (add Wong CH to the list, and it does seem kind of easy for him to get to an All-England final)
Wong - Jang, Chen Yu, Liao and Sato (on paper does not look that hard)
Chen - Lewis, Ohtsuka, Shon, Bao (had the hardest QFinal of the lot)
Lee - Moody, Kendrick, Kuan, Roslin (seems like having the easiest time)
It will be more exciting to see a China v Malaysia final, and since it will be hard for Wong, I will be rooting for Lee. I think he has a 50-50 chance, even though the head-to-head is 4-1 in Chen's favour (Chen won 2 out of 2 last year).
    Prediction: Lin v Lee

    WS
    Zhang Ning v Eriko Hirose
Xie Xingfang v Mia Audina Tjiptawan

Xie is apparently at the top of her game, while we (those of us not watching live in Birmingham) don't know much of her own game Mia has discovered. Meanwhile, Eriko cannot be termed a giant-killer anymore because that would be implying she is not a giant. It may be early yet, but I think she is the next thing China has to worry about. She is the current thing Zhang has to worry about, and it takes something big to stop a big momentum.
    Prediction: Zhang v Xie

    MD
Ha Tae Kwon/Yim Bang Eun v Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun
    Lars Paaske/Jonas Rasmussen v Luluk Hadiyanto/Alven Yulianto

Denmark, China, Korea, Indonesia, each a piece. Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun looks most likely to advance.
    Prediction: Fu/Cai v Luluk/Alven

    WD
    Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen v Gao Ling/Huang Sui
    Wei Yili/Zhao Tingting v Saralee/Sathinee

    The top 4 seeds.
    Prediction: The top 2 seeds

    XD
    Thomas Laybourn/Kamilla Rytter v Nova Widianto/Lilyana Natsir
    Nathan Robertson/Gail Emms v Sudket/Saralee

Only Saralee is involved in another match. Proves how much the XD is a specialised event. They are definitely going to put Robertson/Emms on the TV court, so we won't catch Thomas on TV, which is a shame because I have a feeling that it will be a very tight match.
    Prediction: Widianto/Natsir v Robertson/Emms

All my predictions are chicken-out, going for the favourites (except possibly Lee CW who may be slight underdog). Going by the events so far this week, I hope half my predictions would be seriously challenged.

I agree. If Taufik particpate, the situation would be like Indonesia Open where Taufik went on to win.

I just hope TV 1 would broadcast the match btw Lee CW and Chen Hong. Only LCW has the highest possibilty of defeating Lin Dan, out of the four semi-finalist. I am just praying hard that LCW could play to his best tonight, Chen Hong is surely tough for him.

Isn't Wong Choon Han coached by Li Mao. Why I don't see him at the All-England ? Now let's hope he can do something to help Wong beat Lin Dan. I know some people will think I am " Anti-Lin ", sorry about that. But I just hate to see someone keep winning all the time, it makes everything so boring.

I am also rooting in for Alven/Luluk and Nova/Lilyana. Seems like XD should belong to the Indonesians now. While in the MD, it's unpredictable at the moment, it depends on who's the Indonesia is going to face in the finals. I hope it's Cai and Fu and it's also an opportunity for them to revenge for Flandy and Eng Hian

The outomce of the QF are pretty near my expectations. I see that our 'official analyst' has come out with Finalists identical to the one I put out yesterday when commenting on the QF line-up.

LD-LCW (LD tho I'd like LCW to win)
    Cai/Fu-Alven/Luluk (Alven/Luluk but like Cai/Fu win)
    Zhang/Xie (Xie)
    2 Chinese Pairs (YW/ZZW)
I left the XD 'open' as I doubted Gao/Zhang's ability to get past SF (exhausted their 9 lives) ;could'ntt see Chen/Zhao as AE champions; the 2 Indo pairs are a bit green and Saralee/Pat have not been finalists for a long time let alone win; and the Danes are unknown.I did not want to give the accolade to the cocky Englanders but this is turning out like their year.
The maximum titles for China is 4 but it could be as few as 2 (WS,WD) [IMG]Y

aah, all england is just too interesting .there have been many surprises already
well, i want lee chong wei and lindan to make it to final, and lee ended winning (but hey, this is lin dan we're talking about!so,,)
i guess fu/cai will make it to the final, as for their opponents, i think its still wide open, both are good
for the ladies i predict mia will take it, i dont know, maybe not predicting, but wanting, becos its been such a long time since mia won sumthin
    ah, yang/zhang again
and for xd, i dont know, i guess nathan/gail have big motivation since its their home, and they seem to want to prove to their public that they werent silver medalists for nothing, becos i see that in england badminton fans tend to like them, and believe in them so much, but their opponents stand a chance too

Yes, TV 2 is playing live at 10pm.. I believe they only show Single match. It is because, SM play at 12.30pm (UK) time. So is 8.30pm (Malaysia) time. But, the live broacast on TV 2 is at 10pm.. By this time, i believed is the single match play. Cheers....

I was at Birmingham yesterday and watched mia play yesterday in the quaters, she has amazing technique but I think if she gets taken into a third set in her semi she will lose, her fitness is terrible. She practically collapsed after her win yesterday even though it only went to two sets!
