It's quite interesting, more and more Easter-European players are up-coming. Russia has 2 seeds, Bulgaria(!) 1. Also remarkable: the top-seeded Swiss-girl, as Switzerland isn't a big Badminton country either. The remaining seeds got to Denmark, England (expectable) and only one to our German competitors. MFG Toastie
Eastern Europe always produces good players. WS European Champion two years ago was a Ukrainian for example (Larisa Griga) and the two semi-finalists in MS were finnish (Ville Lang) and Polish (Rafal Hawel). About Jeannine Cicognini, if I'm not mistaken she actually trains in Denmark at Michael Kjaeldsen's Badminton Academy...

Just curious why do the Swiss hold Swiss Open yearly when they aren't a dominating scene in european badminton?? I don't even know 1 swiss player. Is is historical related? (It's very nice of them tho)
