My friend told me about a program that allows you to break down a digital capture of body kinetics (e.g. a film of a shot in badminton) into the basic lines and pivots (limbs, hips, joints etc), showing the lines of momentum path and so forth.

I have no idea where i can get this software, but if anyone else does i'd be grateful to know. If anyone knows of any software used by badminton coaches i'd also be thankful for you to impart your knowledge.

    Aleik.

I am afraid this kind of software is not that affordable for us common mortals. Besides that, I suspect that you can't use the players in the matches from TV as working models.

You may want to first look at universities to find such software. Usually PE faculties - Biomechanics/Human Kinetics labs should have these applications. If you happen to know any friend there he/she might show you how the applications work or where to look for one.

    Hi there,

I've actually seen this software in use by a Badminton Australia coach. I believe it costs approx $2000AUD...I believe the software was called DartFish.

    http://www.dartfish.com

That said though, there are plenty of video sports analysis software out there, so it's just a matter of finding and trying it.

If I were you, then I would give a shot to Movie Maker Program which comes free in Windows XP. I hope you can edit videos in that.

Dartfish is free for 30 days. Excellent software, bit pricey.

Used it for a college project last year, someone in my year did it for the forehand overhead clear, and it looked really impressive
