    On the back of the package, the following was printed;

    " String Tension Recommendation: To ensure minimum "slack' Vectran, tension should be 10% less than BG65"
    I have never bother reading with the stuff before, So what is the tension for BG65?
    I have my BG85 strung at 23m25x on my Winex Armanetic 700 and have broke 2 strings within a span of 2 months and that is playing 1/week for about 3 hours each time. :mad:

    What it means is that with BG85 you should string the tension 10% below that if you had used BG65. Meaning that when you use BG65 and normally strings to 20lbs, then when you use BG85 you should string to 18lb instead. That is to say BG85 performs 10% better than BG65 at the same tension.

    its been discussed, but from what i gather, if you use 24lbs with BG65, you should use 24lbs - 10% for BG85.

    if you break break BG85 in about 24 hours play time at 25lbs, it means you should either lower your tension or use thicker strings.

    unless of course, you don't mind the costs of restringing at this interval.

    edit:

    That was my initial interpretion.
    If that is the case, why doesn't Yonex just word it that way? Instead it come up with "..To ensure minimum "slack" Vectran, tension should be 10% less than BG65" What is the heck is that? So if I strung the BG85 at the BG65 tension, I will get a maximum "slack" Vectran? Which I presume is bad. And what about comparison with other Yonex strings? I not sure if BG65 is the most commonly used strings but I'll be damm if the info is of any use... to me anyway:D :D

    But, thanks for the input Shuttlebugs.. :)

    chickenpoodle, can you point me to that thread? unable to locate that.
    thks.

    if you also go and google "vectran", you'll find out what the material is.

    Its logical not to sting the 85 into higher tensions..its very thin.. unless you want to break

    It is the current string I use for my DE, before I used to string at 26lbs, with the 85, i lowered it to 24lbs to make it last longer.
