Well, shock of all shocks ... Zheng Bo/Huang Sui have done what Zhang Jun/Gao Ling failed to do recently. They bundled Robertson/Emms out in the first round.

Robertson/Emms retired early in the first game trailing 0-2 after 2 mins of play. Probably due to some injury.

The only other seeded XD pair to lose is the 8th seeded English pairing of Blair & Munt. Singapore's Hendry and Yujia beat them in 3 games.

There is no live score, at least not yet. Still hoping and praying that the organisers will do something about this.

However, the results are updated here : http://www.yonexopenjp.com/Draw/index_en.html

Click on the "Mixed Doubles" box under "Main Draw" near the top of the page.

    Mixed doubles results are in.

Saputra/Li bt 8th seeds Blair/Munt. Although not that surprising, this result further condemns the English camp in their favourite event.

The other seeds and favourites advanced to the last 16. KKK/WPT survived a three-setter against Nugroho/Tetty. Clark/Kellogg kept the English flag flying. Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen easily dispatched of Njoto/Wang Chen. Laybourn/Juhl also survived three sets against Ha Tae Kwon/Ha Jung Eun.

Oh, so that's what it was. I saw 2-0 and I thought it was two sets to love. Makes more sense now.

Though Zeng Bo and Huang Sui is a new XD pairing but they make quite a formidable pair based on their respective MD and WD rankings.

I think the English pair Robertson/Emms may have overdo themselves in England Masters just before the Japan Open. Mixed doubles competition is open now. Hoping for the MS results to come in anytime now.

Presently, only the 1st round "Mixed Doubles" (Main Draw) and all the Qualifying Round results are updated. The 1st round "Men Singles" results should be updating soon.

Did you click on the wrong button ?

As much as I like the new pairing of Xie Zhongbo and Zhang Yawen, I want them to lose to Zheng Bo/Huang Sui just so I can see them play Zhang/Gao. That would be an interesting match. :D

    Korean Mixed Doubles Trivial

I noticed that Korea has 3 mixed doubles pairs in the main draw. The partners for each pair have the same surnames, namely :

Ha Tae Kwon & Ha Jun Eun,
Hwang Ji Man & Hwang Yu Mi,
Lee Jae Jin & Lee Hyo Jung.

Just wondering whether if this is merely a coincidence or done so intentionally for whatever reasons ... lol :) :) :)
