    WS results

Finally, the three Chinese youngsters produced some results in WS this time but their senior, Zhou Mi failed to clear the first hurdle, losing in straight sets to Yonekura. Lu Lan upstaged Olympics Silver Medalist, Mia Audina in a close game, it's 13-11 in the rubber while Jiang beat Poonsana Salakjit. Interesting matches come up in the second round,

Zhang Ning vs Wong Mew Choo
Lu Lan vs Xing AY ( Lu Lan is fired up after his win over Mia )
    Wang Chen vs Elizabeth Cann
Yonekura vs Tine Rasmussen ( Equal match, Yonekura has the home advantage)
    Zhu Lin vs Xu HW
Hirose vs Pi YH (Match of the day)
    Jiang vs Yao
    Hallam vs Xie

The rest of the matches should go the more highly seeded players, Zhang, Wang, Xu, Yao and Xie.

    Lu Lan beat Mia 11-9 7-11 13-11.
Robertson was already injured and pulled out from the mixed doubles first round, so he probably retired in MD for the same reason (shoulder injury).

It makes no difference. If you are unseeded and in the last 16, you will probably meet one of the top 8 seeds anyway. The top 8 seeds being Zhang, Xie, Pi, Wang, Zhou, Yao, Mia and Xu. Mew Choo has little chance against any one of them. It would be a blessing if she is not drawn against one of them in the opening round.

(But we know Mia and Zhou lost. Mew Choo would have more chance if she were to play either Kanako or Lu Lan.)

Yes, serious. As far as I know, the only non-Chinese (race, that is) in the Indonesian camp from past to present is Icuk Sugiarto.

The Chinese, they go everywhere. Just take a look at all the 8 seeds in the WS.

Me, too. He is the most talented of the today's players. But I hope Lee CW can win. First Kenneth, then Lin Dan, and finally Taufik. No big deal.
