    Subject: BG-66 Sharp
Racket used in this review: MP-88 blue in 3UG5
Tension used in this review: 22x24
Stringing style: 2 piece (or 4 knots) and 22V-23H

Initial thoughts before tested on court:
After the string job was complete, I tested it in my apartment as usual. It doesn't give me anything special or make me feel anything special. The sound is OK, but not as big as BG-66. The feel is between BG-66 and BG-68TI. The bounce and control was above average but not supreme.

The string surface doesn't have texture but not feeling slippery. On my bucket test, it scored above average. I will be able to give out more comments on this tomorrow night after I return from the court.

I don't think you are a female control player Bluejeff, thats why BG-66S isn't anything special to you ;)

I love how yonex gives its strings gender assignment.

    Hey, I could be a girl if I want to :p :p
(BG-85 is listed more for girls, but lots of people here like it, including myself)

Camera used: Sony V3 Digital Camera. It's an OK camera.
(When I took above pictures, I only used 3MP and chopped off the unneeded surroundings. I could've used the 7MP, but that will be way too big for posting here :) )

Shop owner: but they are for women
Bluejeff: so...I dun care...I am already using the BG66sharp
Shop owner: oh, in that case can I interest you in the specials we have on the skirts
Bluejeff: nah you keep it, it looks better on you..actually, can I have a pink mini-bag for my mobile (its not for me, its for my gf)

i dont want to say this before because i might be labelled as an offensive person, stereotyping and discriminatory but i'm really not. Now i can say it with factory backing.

bg66 and bg85 aren't recommended for guys who can hit hard. ;)
they do make one hellava pok sound.
99.9% of pros dont use them.
I believe bg66s is appropriate for hard hitters, guys and ladies.

sorry if i hurt someone's feeling

BTW, wtf?? might be 'feel/touch' category.

wtf? is "dampening", or if you translate it word by word, it is "impact absorption"... :)

Oh... I see, thanks. I could have never figure it out without help :p

Hmm, from what Bluejeff said, BG66S wasn't as powerful as it sound. But the the pentagon thing with the wtf, repulsion, hitting sound, etc... stated that this has more replusion power than BG68ti.

    So which will make a better choice? BG68ti? BG85? BG66? Or BG66S?

thanks, my chinese is so... bad
i also noticed that 'hitting sound' wasn't an important factor before and now it replaces feel/touch category that was once in that pentagon. So Pok sound is important now :) Yonex might be scouting this site....

Regarding the distinction between male and fale (and I'm taking a stab in the dark here-no offence intended) apart from males being able to hit with greater force than females, is the chart also based on males stringing at higher tension. Only if you consider a tension change will the "control" of a string differ between males and females.

i.e. bg65 is dire at contol strung with a low tension and bg66 with high tensions.

i thought so too. I can't see how genders have a 'control' bias.

    1-Hour usage thoughts:
I used it in 2 doubles games tonight and I think I like it very much :)
    1. The repulsion power is pretty huge and it will be close to BG-68TI and BG-66. (in the same range, but I wouldn't say which one is greater)
    2. The sound is pretty loud but I think BG-66 still sounds better. :)
    3. The feeling is good, solid and very responsive. Kind of like BG-68TI though.
    4. Control of the string is above average, drops are nice but nets might need a bit of care as the string is a bit too bouncy.
    5. Durability: Don't know yet; I will make posts later on this.

    HOWEVER!
The cost of the string is a lot higher than regular BG-66. (The cost of BG66-S is about $10 USD, which is 2X more than the regular BG-66). So, I would say, Yeah, it "might" be better than the normal BG-66, but the difference isn't much to make me to consider it as daily string.

Doesn't polyester type of string make an even bigger POK sound?

I will stick with BG-65 (Canadian Version) anytime :)

The "control" ratings must be based on women stringing at the low of the recommended tensions; men string at the high end of the recommendations.

Of course Yonex knows that people string above those rations, but to be consistent with their tension recommendations (which would not void the wanrantee), they must base their tests on those tensions.

(sorry BJ about jacking this thread)

    Bluejeff,

Can I have your thoughts on BG66S as opposed to BG85?

    thanks!

I would prefer BG-85 for now because:
    1. Repulsion is similar, at least in the same range.
    2. I think I have better feels and controls with BG-85 for now.
    3. Cost is a lot lower than BG-66S, and BG-85 is a lot easier to get.
