Hey guys, I finished my 1st round junior YRDSB tourney @ Brother Andre early this afternoon. The schools that participated were MDHS, Father Michael McGivney, Town Centre Montessori, Middlefield, and Markville (Me!). Anyways we did fairly well, here were our results:

    Men's Singles: 1st
    Ladies' Singles: 3rd
    Men's Doubles: 3rd
    Ladies' Doubles: 2nd, 3rd
    Mixed Doubles: 1st, 3rd(me!)

I wasn't on the team last year, but I know that we barely won any matches last year in round 2, so no one advanced to 3rd round. Hopefully that'll change this year...

How'd your team do? (If you're in a team from YRDSB)

Anyways the teams advancing from mixed doubles in our zone were Markville 1 and 2, McGivney 1, and Middlefield 1.

I played against my own teammates in the finals too :O

    How long were your games?

I guess my school Trudeau did pretty good this year compared to last year. Here's our results:

    Boys Singles: 2nd
    Girls Singles: 2nd & 5th
    Girls Doubles: 4th
Boys Doubles: 4th (That's me... my arm hurt too much for me to get 3rd :()
    Mixed Doubles: 4th

Boys Doubles was UHS 2, UHS 1, STO 1, and PET 2.

From my understanding, UHS 1 gave 1st place to UHS 2 because they wanted to play an extra game to miss class lol.

So funny... I found out that like 75% of my team did not have overgrips rofl. Only like 3 ppl including myself had them. Everyone else used the original grips that came with the racquet XD.

UHS pretty much won 1st in every category except for mixed lol.

Kenny, where's your gym located in your school? I don't wanna drive to my school only to be bussed back to your school when I could just walk straight to st. A :p.

Hey Trance, I know Kenneth from your seniors team too @ PET :D

Outside of school, I train at Lees. Been playing badminton for about 1 1/2 year...

My racquet is so s**tty....Yonex Carbonex 6000 lol, bought it for like 30 bucks..

    Getting a new one though...

Look out for me in the crowd, i'm an average chinese skinny dude with short black hair, orange yonex shoes.

Kenny: I need to know the location of the gym inside your school because I'm gonna walk to your school in the morning for the tournament on monday :p

richievuong: Cool, you know Kenneth. Man, you're so rich to train at Lee's lol. And why do you have such a bad racquet... You certainly have the money to get a much better one.

And your description of short chinese guy with black hair is really vague rofl. I'm just gonna look at everybody's feet and look for orange Yonex shoes. :D I'll be the Chinese guy with black hair and glasses in the red Trudeau Trailblazer shirt.

You guys going to that St Augustine tournament at the end of april?

How does it work? Is it 25$ for all three events (mixed, singles, doubles) or 25$ for each event?

I forgot how much the fee was to enter, but the tournament fee + taxis were covered for our team fee, which was 45 bucks :(

To advance to the round 2 tournament in St. Augustine next monday, you had to have placed in the top 4 in round 1 tournament in your respective zone and event.

Oh yeah, I'll be wearing my black adidas sweater on that day, can't miss me :D

What about the tournament at St Augustine on April 29-May 1st, is that open to everyone even if you haven't made it to top 4 in that region? I didn't make the top 4 because the competetion for singles was pretty stiff.

What tournament is this you are talking about?

The one we are talking about is the Round 2 of YRDAA Badminton basically York Region area schools. It isn't open.
